Capcom Fighters Chats to Rashid Wonder, John Takeuchi, at Red Bull Battle Grounds

During a lull in the excitement and tension of Red Bull Battle Grounds in Seattle, Capcom community manager Matt Edwards got the chance to grab an interview with the young star from Japan, John Takeuchi. Dazzling fans with his hyper-aggresive Rashid play and his youthful charisma, Takeuchi has shot up the ranks of the Capcom Pro Tour leaderboard, with wins over old guard players like RB|Bonchan and high placings at tournaments like Canada Cup and First Attack.

In this interview, Takeuchi explains how he got into Street Fighter V, how Rashid’s backstory actually influenced his character pick, as well as admitting that he may not be the best Rashid in Japan, among many other things. The back and forth between Takeuchi and the translator during this interview makes for a natural and flowing conversation, resulting in some very in-depth answers. John Takeuchi is in the top 16 of Red Bull Battle Grounds, with his first match being against XsK Samurai later today.

SSBM Tutorials Outlines How To Conquer Fox in This Character Guide

The herald of 20XX and widely regarded as the best character in Super Smash Bros. Melee, Fox can seem impossible to beat at times. His mobility, combo game and Shine give him options to cover almost every situation but there are still ways to deal with this wily space animal. In his latest character guide, Kira from SSBM Tutorials has listed some of the things to look out for when trying to defeat Fox.

While Fox has plenty of strengths, lack of range is his main weakness and most other top tier characters can abuse their increased range to wall out Fox’s attacks. His speed is terrifying, but awareness of his approach options and having the defensive tools to counter them can alleviate the stress of dealing with a woodland creature assaulting you. Kira also lists potential edgeguards, what to do about laser camping as well as Shine pressure on your shield, which should be enough to get you started in your fight against Fox.

Stun Saiyans Into Submission with This Infinite Combo in Patch 1.02 of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2

The release of a new fighter must be like Christmas for lab monsters, as it provides a brand new engine to experiment with and subsequently break. With the release of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, technicians have already found a pretty devastating combo which is potentially infinite and works on the majority of the cast.

Playing around with the Stun attack in Xenoverse 2, YouTuber HaWXx Is Rippin has discovered that you can infinitely stunlock an opponent, by inputting a frame perfect Stun attack just as their stamina gauge recovers. Upon landing a Stun, your opponent’s stamina gauge drains and they cannot move until the gauge fills up again. If you time another Stun attack to sync up with the flash which indicates that your opponent’s stamina gauge is back up to full, you can continually keep them in this stunned state until death.

If you input the Stun attack too early, the opponent is knocked away and you must chase them to continue the combo, while if you input it too late, they can Z-Flash away and start hitting you. Players must also note that landing consecutive Stuns is very difficult for certain characters, due to the speed of their standard attacks when compared to recovery rate of an opponent’s stamina gauge, so definitely experiment with your main to see if they can easily perform this infinite. Do note that this combo works as of Patch 1.02 of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, so it’s quite likely this combo will be removed in the future, so enjoy it now!

TOOLASSISTED Explains The Secret Behind Daigo’s “Super Hadouken” Tech

Daigo fans may be aware of a recent piece of tech shown off in his “Research Institute of Ryu”. During the streamed sessions we saw a “Super Hadouken“, performed by plinking a normal Hadouken into an EX version, which seemed to evade attacks that would otherwise hit a normal EX Hadouken.

Below, TOOLASSISTED shows us exactly what is going on with this tech. He reveals that it’s not an amalgamation of the two hurtboxes or any such magic, as some thought, but simply doing a kara cancel out of the Hadouken. A Hadouken moves Ryu back slightly, and so does EX Hadouken, so plinking into an EX Hadouken gives the combined backwards momentum of both moves, allowing it to evade slightly better. This can be clearly seen, as a normal Hadouken has visible hurtboxes on the feet, which appear when plinking a normal Hadouken into an EX one.

How Did Kusumondo “Escape” Mattsun’s Fireball at Canada Cup 2016? Silentscope Explains

One of the most exciting moments of the Super Street Fighter II Turbo tournament at Canada Cup 2016 came during the grand finals. In the midst of one of the most heated games, Kusumondo’s E. Honda had jumped over Mattsun’s Ken fireball and tagged Mattsun with a jumping roundhouse. Mattsun then seemingly countered with a reversal fireball, which Kusumondo also seemingly swept under. This was entirely unexpected, as the fireball went through Honda’s face, which would presumably have a hurtbox. The entire room gasped, with Kenny “Unessential” Ng wondering if the 22-year-old game had tech that was just discovered at this very morning.

After the event, James Chen explained to me that it was Ken’s reversal super glitch, which prevents the super from coming out, and the last special that was used to happen instead. It was presumed that this caused the fireball to have no hitbox, which allowed it to travel through Honda no matter what Kusumondo did. However, it was also found that this in itself does not cause the hitbox on the fireball to disappear.

The sleuths in the American Super Turbo scene went to work, and Silentscope came up with an answer and was able to replicate the glitch. It ties into something that desk had already explained regarding fireballs in Street Fighter V as well as Super Turbo. It was already established that there was a fireball that Kusumondo had jumped over to attack Mattsun. What Silentscope found was that in an accidental frame perfect input, Mattsun had not only activated Ken’s super glitch, but did so on the very frame that the first fireball was leaving the screen, allowing for the second fireball to lose its hitbox. While it does mean that new anti-shoto tech has not been found for the sumo, the fact that this not only happened, but occurred on the biggest stage Super Turbo has seen in forever makes Mattsun’s accidental feat even more impressive.

Watch Silentscope’s full explanation of the glitch below.
