How to Avoid Getting Burst-Baited in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-

Bursting can create on of the most hype moments in Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- and related games with similar mechanics. While this mechanic has everyone’s back, it also involves a metagame of burst-baiting and punishing that turns the match into a mindgame.

The latest episode of the Guilty Gear Crash Course is an in-depth coverage of how Bursts work. Novril begins by explaining how the gauge itself works. It’s important to remember that it retains over rounds, so using it at low health while the opponent is winning can turn out in wasting it. The episode ends with some very helpful tips on how to decrease the chances of the opponent reading a Burst and punishing it.

In -REVELATOR-, it’s also possible to do a Burst-enhanced Overdrive and to drain the opponent’s Burst gauge with a charged Blitz Attack.

Throw Kunai with Deadly Precision, with this Ibuki Optimization Video from FGC Academy

Ibuki’s kunai are integral to her gameplan in Street Fighter V, so learning to use them correctly is vital to do damage as this ninja schoolgirl. To stop Ibukis around the world misusing their kunai, the FGC Academy has created an instructional video, teaching all kunoichi how to properly manage their throwing knives.

As with handling any dangerous equipment, FGC Academy first goes over the improper use of kunai, like randomly throwing air kunai and getting punished or using more than two kunai in a single juggle. While it may look flashy and get the crowd on your side, excessive kunai use is just wasting resources and it’s better to learn and utilize the less flashy, but equally damaging combo whenever possible.

The main optimizations of kunai, according to FGC Academy, are hit-checking the opponent, using kunai to make moves like standing heavy punch safe and extending blockstring pressure by using EX kunai. If all goes to pot and you are running low, ending a combo with heavy punch Raida should give you enough time to reload at least one kunai. The video shows these kunai applications in action so try to see how you can further optimize these optimizations after watching this guide.

Street Fighter V Servers Going Down For Maintenance on October 25

Capcom occasionally takes down the servers for Street Fighter V to conduct maintenance on them. Whether it’s to apply a new patch, or just fix some issues with match making, these down times represent a good chunk of time where Street Fighter V players are unable to play online or earn Fight Money.

It seems that one such maintenance period is scheduled this week.  Hopping on to Street Fighter V, a new system message states that the game’s online servers will be taken down for maintenance on October 25 from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM PDT. You can see a screenshot of the system message below.

Capcom has not revealed what the maintenance is for, so it’s probably just routine matchmaking fixes rather than a new patch. Additionally, the message states that the maintenance hours are subject to change.
