Justin Baisden of Fight For the 6ix Talks to Red Bull About Toronto’s Street Fighter Scene

As part of their continued fostering of the Street Fighter V scene through its Proving Grounds tournaments, Red Bull has been keen to interview key members from scenes where they are holding events. This time, Red Bull got the chance to chat with Justin Baisden, lead tournament organizer of Fight for the 6ix in Toronto, to discuss the local scene, its player diversity and playstyle.

Due to the influx of East Asian players coming to the University of Toronto to get a top education, the region has developed a style which integrates the defensive, footsies heavy play that is prominent in regions like Japan, Thailand and China. Toronto was renowned for this during the era of Third Strike and it has trickled down into the current crop of Street Fighter V players, creating a cohort of competitors that combines tactics from different sides of the Pacific.

This diversity applies to players too, as people come from the greater Ontario region, the USA and beyond to play against the eclectic mix of styles and contenders that converge at Toronto tournaments.

Ibuki Pulls Yet More Ninja Tools Out of the Bag With This Air Throw Tech in Street Fighter V

As if this wily kunoichi needs more tricky setups to bamboozle her opponent, Lucius_RNK has discovered a new anti air setup with Ibuki in Street Fighter V. By using the freeze frame of Ibuki’s V-Trigger on reaction to an opponent’s jump, Ibuki players can perform an air throw to fling their opponent into a bomb.

Off the bomb detonation, Ibukis can either go for the Critical Art for raw damage or follow up with a longer combo. However, the follow up or Critical Art is not guaranteed if the opponent quick rises the explosion and the actual air throw timing is quite strict, so get practicing in Training Mode to get the timing perfect. There is the possibility that this setup may work with different bomb timings, as u/GummibearGaming theorizes that you could meaty the quickrise if the Ibuki throws out a slow bomb. There is more to discover from this tech so get in the lab and start testing!

The Best of Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR- Photos from Digital Figure Mode

The recent 1.03 patch introduced a new mode to Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-. Digital Figure Mode allows players to get started on a collection which includes characters and backgrounds. They can arrange them in scenes, pose in different ways, and share on social media.

Arc System Works hosted a contest for Tweeting pictures with the hashtag #GGXrd_Photo. While the contest ended on October 10th, we took the time to look through and curate some of the best — or more interesting — entries.

Here they are:

Sin has enough food to share, but his face when someone wants a little meat is priceless.

Where did Chipp learn the Sand Clone Jutsu?!

It looks like Leo picked up new powers as well.

Didn’t type Faust as a rock fan before, but it makes sense, actually.

They say that if Potemkin anti-airs correctly 13 times in a round, an angel will appear.

Who rode it better?

Perhaps a reference to the Midnight Carnival?

One of these days, Beak Driver will go too far… but Raven is just fine with that.

Would Sin choose Elphelt over Ramlethal?

Who knew Guilty Gear could be so romantic?

Wow, Ky. We know Dizzy wasn’t part of the original Xrd -SIGN- cast, but you lost Hope a little too soon.

Fighting at the brink of dawn, or a reference to Gold characters from the past versions?

This caption sums it all up.

Which one was your favorite? Did you take any GGXrd Photos? Share with us in the comments.

Hit Shows Goku a Bad Time in His Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 Gameplay Trailer

Earlier this week, Bandai Namco Entertainment dropped a bombshell on us when they revealed that Hit from Dragon Ball Super would be joining the launch roster of Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2, with a quick trailer reenacting a scene from his battle with Super Saiyan Blue Goku from the Universe 6 Saga. While that short tease surely wet the appetites of many fans, we now have a gameplay trailer, showing the Legendary Hitman doing what he does best: battering Goku around the World Martial Arts Tournament stage with a variety of melee attacks and counters, as well as showcasing his impressive speed and signature Time Skip and Vital Point Attack abilities.

Bandai Namco Entertainment America also uploaded a “Full Character Trailer,” for Hit, with an extra two seconds of footage, showing what happens after Hit’s punch connects with Goku’s face.

Lastly, Thundershot69 has provided us with a brief breakdown of Hit’s gameplay trailer, comparing his abilities to those he displays in the anime, in addition to speculating how his attacks will function within Xenoverse 2’s gameplay engine, based off of limited play time with him at the Bandai Namco Entertainment headquarters.

Dragon Ball Xenoverse 2 will release on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in North America on October 25th, October 28th in Europe and Australia, and November 2nd in Japan. The game will also see a worldwide release on Steam on October 27th.

HORI Hayabusa Silent Optical Joystick Now Available at Arcade Shock

For many folks who play fighting games at night, silenced arcade sticks are a must so that any sleeping loved ones aren’t disturbed by furious QCF motions. Most of these sticks use special silenced push buttons with padding to cut down on the noise. However, even with these, there’s one other part that causes noise in an arcade stick – the joystick itself

With most of the noise from an arcade stick lever coming from its micro switches, the best choice is to use one ditches those switches in favor of an optical sensor. One such joystick is the HORI Hayabusa Silent Optical Joystick.

Now available for the first time ever over at Arcade Shock, the Hayabusa Silent Optical is based on the proven Hayabusa arcade stick, but uses a special set of optical sensors instead of micro switches. The optical sensors help cut down on the noise while the proven Hayabusa body and low contact pivot make for a longer lasting, more durable arcade stick.

The HORI Hayabusa Silent Optical Joystick is now available over at Arcade Shock for $59.99.  Interested players however should try to get these as soon as possible as stocks are very limited.
