PC Version of Street Fighter V Experiencing Issues After the Latest Patch

With its latest patch, Street Fighter V gains one new character and a host of other additions. However, for some users on PC, it’s also brought about some woes as a new issue is keeping them from playing.

Based on reports from the game’s Steam Community forum, Capcom’s new anti-cheat system has been causing issues for some players trying to launch the game. The issues range from the system asking for Administrator rights whenever the game launches, to Windows not letting the game run at all due supposedly running “unverified” code.

Some users have found some success finding workarounds for the issue; for some, simply adding Street Fighter V as an exception to their antivirus works. Others have reported that launching the game through Steam instead of a desktop shortcut has allowed them to play the game. However, other users have not been as lucky, and are now unable to play Street Fighter V on PC.

Here’s hoping that Capcom addresses this issue soon!

[Editor’s note: we’re receiving tips related to this matter from concerned PC users, regarding a file that arrived in the new update, “Capcom.sys”: it appears in the system32 folder, and is being likened to a “rootkit” due to its full system permissions–presumably to allow the new Street Fighter V anti-crack system to function. We’ll let readers know if we hear more on this aspect of the PC update.]

The SRK Rollback: Week of September 17-22, 2016

Welcome to the Rollback: a frame-by-frame look back at our past week’s most notable news and our favorite SRK articles from September 17 to September 22, 2016!

[Editor’s note: Street Fighter V has dropped a frame of input latency (from 8F to 7F) on PlayStation 4 with the September 22 update, so it’s as good a time as any to bump the SRK Rollback a day back to its new Friday morning spot!]

For myself and others that have no direct experience with tournament organization, I appreciate d3v taking some time to describe what his experience was like making Manila Cup 2016 a success.

Frame 2:

When Chun-Li is discussed in relation to Street Fighter V, it seems to usually be to point out how overpowered she is, or how “boring” she is to fight/watch. Some of my favorite players main Chun-Li, and I still stand behind my old favorite–I’ll be trying these combos out in the lab myself.

Super Street Fighter II Turbo is the quintessential Street Fighter game; with all these names on the fight card, I’m very excited for Canada Cup 2016 and their ST event.

It’s hardly shocking that the Features Editor has a special enjoyment of the long form work on the site, but this one is special–I’ve still got a lot of love for Pokkén Tournament, and Slippingbug is the leading player of my main! The interview well worth checking out on its own merits too.

Too Sexy for His Suit: Urien’s Street Fighter III Outfit is Unlockable in Street Fighter V!

When players were first given a glimpse of Urien in the game’s story mode back in June, more than a few were fans were disappointed that he wasn’t rocking his classic speedo-sporting Street Fighter III look. However, it seems that Capcom has actually hidden the outfit in the game.

sfv_urien_sfiii_outfit

As it turns out, players can actually have Urien burn his clothes off by simply holding down the light punch, medium kick, and heavy punch buttons during the pre-fight intro. You can watch Joe “LI Joe” Ciaramelli pull it off in this clip from his stream.

The code itself also works for his battle outfit and story mode outfits with some slight variations: the battle mode outfit variation has him retain his long hair, while the story mode version has him keep his shades.

Bring the Thunder to Street Fighter V with Laura’s Delayed Wakeup Mix-ups

There are few things better in Street Fighter V than watching a great Laura go on a roll. All she needs is a few good reads to strip away a full bar of health–and she can make it even simpler when she gets the chance to unleash her mix-ups.

Revelant has done some lab work with the Brazilian wonder, coming up with a variety of fun options to punish an opponent for failing to quick rise, or for those fun moments where she finds a hard knockdown. Moral of the story? Make sure to quick rise against Laura, unless you’re very sure your defense is on point.
