HORI Shows Off New Red, White, & Blue Versions of Their Real Arcade Pro 4 Hayabusa Arcade Stick

The Real Arcade Pro 4 from HORI has been a staple for many arcade stick users since the start of this console generation. This second generation Vewlix based design contains many unique features, including HORI’s own line of arcade parts. That said, the RAP 4 does lack the color options available compared to some of its competitors–until now, that is.

HORI has announced a new line of colored variants for the Real Arcade Pro 4. These new editions of the RAP 4 will come in either Red, White, or Blue bodies with matching artwork.

Mechanically, all three variants use the same Hayabusa lever and buttons as the regular black RAP 4 Hayabusa. These are the same parts also seen in the Real Arcade Pro Premium VLX Hayabusa that we reviewed earlier this year.  The sticks also retain the same functionality as the default black RAP 4 Hayabusa including the touchpad, sped adjustable turbo, and an Assign function for swapping out button assignments such as Options and the touchpad.

Interested parties can now head on over to HORI Japan’s online store to pre-purchase the red, white, and blue versions of the Real Arcade Pro 4 Hayabusa. Suggested retail price for each is ¥ 16,178 ($156.74 USD) with tax.

In addition to this, the red and blue variants of the RAP 4 Hayabusa will also be the basis of the Touhou Urban Legend in Limbo arcade sticks that were announced alongside the game’s PS4 release. The red RAP 4 will be the basis for the Amazon Japan exclusive “Reimu Hakurei” version, and the blue RAP 4 will be the basis for the HORI store exclusive “Marisa Kirisame” version.

Refine Your Swordplay with These Marth Kill Confirms in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U

Popular opinion about Marth in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U is starting to change, with top players like MK Leo, Mr. E and Pugwest placing highly with a character that was once though to be only mid tier. While Marth has fantastic kill power with his tipper on the end of his sword, it can be troublesome to position yourself correctly to kill with this sweet spot.

Between percentage knowledge and overall spacing, guaranteeing kills as Marth can be difficult as someone trying to pick up the character for the first time. For people looking for kill confirms, we already covered the topic a few months ago here on SRK, and that same Marth main has compiled several additional Marth kill confirms from various points on and off the stage. If you are looking to master the Hero King, these videos will help you on your way.

Gamerbee’s Necalli, Xiaohai’s Cammy, and Xian’s Ibuki Duke it Out in These Street Fighter V Finals Matches from Ze Fighting Game Championship

This weekend’s Ze Fighting Game Championship in Chengdu, China was one of the most hotly contested Street Fighter V tournaments over this packed past weekend. A good number of top players from the region were in attendance for a chance to earn some Capcom Pro Tour points.

Among these top players, three names eventually emerged to fight it out in the final stages of the tournament: Zowie’s Gamerbee, Qanba and DouyuTV’s Xiaohai, and Razer’s Xian. Xian and Xiaohai met in winners bracket where, in a close 3 to 2 set, the latter’s Cammy sent the former’s F.A.N.G down to the losers bracket. Waiting for Xian was Gamerbee who he had previously sent down to losers in the top 16 portion of the bracket.

Xian defeated Gamerbee to face Xiaohai again in grand finals. However, he decided to surprise the latter with a new character pick, using Ibuki instead of F.A.N.G to reset the bracket in another close set. However, Xiaohai regained his composure to once again defeat Xian and claim the title of champion.

For those interested in seeing these matches, Beast of the East has shared shared them onto their YouTube channel. You can check these out below.

Smash 3 Attempts to Bring Super Smash Bros. for Wii U’s Aesthetic to Brawl and Project M

A lot of the mod attention for Smash games is given to Project M but it is one of many community mods out there. Smash 3, one of the more ambitious mods, is attempting to port over the visual style of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U to Brawl. This means swapping or completely remaking the more vibrant character models of Smash 4 to replace Brawl’s realistic models.

Seeing as it is a general texture mod, Smash 3 works with both standard Brawl and Project M, so characters like Roy (who was absent from Brawl) also get the visual overhaul. In the trailer below, you see Marth, Ike and Roy all benefiting from this change in art style. If you are someone who is caught between both Smash 4 and Project M, this mod may act as the perfect way to bridge the gap between the two.

Learn About Chun-Li’s Civilian Friends in These Next CFN Profiles

Our next set of Capcom Fighters Network profiles take us to one of the most obscure corners of the Street Fighter universe. Back in 2008 as part of Street Fighter’s 20th Anniversary, Capcom released a pachislot game developed by Enterrise in Japan, titled Chun-Li ni nakasae China, which translates to “Chun-Li Leaves China.” The first game to feature Chun-Li in a starring role follows the Strongest Woman in the World, along with Rose, Guile, Sakura and Ryu, as they battled Zangief and the forces of Shadaloo: the Dolls, Cammy, Vega and M. Bison, in addition to rescuing an unnamed girl. Akuma even makes an appearance. These next profiles will focus on the two original characters created for the game, Chun-Li’s friends Mary and Reiko.

Today we’re focusing on profiles of characters appearing in Chun-Li Leaves China. This is Mary. She’s a normal girl who doesn’t fight.

Basic Info:

Name: Mary
Height: 157cm
Weight: 49kg
Blood type: O
Birthday: 3rd of December
Country of origin: Ireland
Likes: Walks, reading
Dislikes: Exercise

Mary SFV Artwork

In the past, she was involved in a kidnapping incident while vacationing in Hong Kong and was rescued by Chun-Li. She has a very calm and quiet demeanor. She enjoys reading mystery novels sitting on a public park bench, where she tends to totally zone out. Her memory and insight is amazing. In the future, she hopes to work for some sort of an intelligence agency. How about Shadaloo? It’s a great place to work, I promise!

Another character who appeared in “Chun-Li Leaves China.” You can tell that this woman loves motorcycling just by looking at her outfit. She doesn’t practice any martial arts, thus she cannot fight.

Basic Info:

Name: Reiko
Height: 163cm
Weight: 54kg
Blood type: B
Birthday: May 20th
Home Country: United States
Likes: Motorcycle, Watermelon
Dislikes: Clouds of Dust

Reiko SFV Artwork

She’s a famous road racer that’s actively competed in various countries all over the world. She’s an extremely competitive person with an unyielding personality who hates losing. A few years ago, she happened to witness Mary’s kidnapping by chance, which led to her aiding Chun-Li in her investigation. All was successfully resolved. Since then, they’ve become good friends and keep in contact with each other. She loves her favorite red racing suit. She’s really cool! Let’s sponsor her! Please Lord F.A.N.G! How about we send some Shadaloo stickers to her! We could affix it in a prominent place where it would stand out here in Shadaloo… What? We can’t? I’m sorry. Man, what a pity…

To give our non-Japanese fans a taste of this pachinko game, we’ve included a promotional trailer, so everyone can see what this title was like.

That wraps up another round of profiles, but you can check the profiles of Shadaloo’s Apprentice Dolls, who appear in this game, here.

Super Smash Fighter Attempts to Draw Parallels Between Ledges and Corners in 2D Fighters

Super Smash Fighter–a series of tutorials designed to explain Super Smash Bros. Melee mechanics to traditional fighting game players–has dished up another offering of its tutorial. In this one, Louis “L_Pag” Pagillo attempts to explain the concept of ledges within Melee to Smash novices. In doing so, they liken the ledge to its only potential counterpart in traditional 2D fighters–the corner.

While admitting that the two concepts have noted differences–such as stages in Melee actually being impactful within matches–he notes the similarities of the concepts of pressure and difficulties to escape situations if put into a corner or ledge. L_Pag also notes that both present rewards to players who better control the neutral game.

If you are a Street Fighter player looking to transition toward competitive Smash–or even a Smash spectator wondering about the psychology of the game–it is worth a read.
