Today, at 1130AM ET (830AM PT), Guild Wars 2’s Colin Johanson, Mike O’Brien, and the voice actress Jennifer Hale will be presenting what lies "Beyond the Point of No Return" live from PAX South in San Antonio, TX. We’ll embed the stream here, and update the article with details as they’re announced.
ArenaNet has big plans for PAX South with a special presentation hosted by Jennifer Hale that will surely shed some light on the expected Guild Wars 2 expansion announcement. The event is to take place on Saturday, January 24th at 8:30 a.m. PST / 11:30 p.m. EST and will feature studio president and co-founder Mike O’Brien and game director Colin Johanson.
Is this real? Has the moment I, and countless other Guild Wars 2 players, have been waiting for finally come? I mean, why else would ArenaNet register another name? What other reason would they possibly have to book an entire room to themselves at Pax? If this doesn’t all lead to the official announcement of an expansion, then I have no idea what ArenaNet has around the corner. I guess they could producing a series of Amiibo like figures to act as adventuring buddies.
The Guild Wars 2 site has been updated with a lengthy post about balance changes coming on January 27th and that will encompass nearly every aspect of the game. Players can expect to see adjustments to Might, Confusion and several items (sigils and runes). The post also lays out changes coming to Structured PvP and Professions that spans all classes in an effort to make skills "more reliable and consistent and a return to regular use".
Though speculation has begun with the trademarking of Guild Wars 2: Heart of Thorns, little else beyond the name is known. That may end, however, on January 24th at PAX South and the main stage presentation to be given by ArenaNet co-founder Mike O’Brien and Game Director Colin Johanson. According to a press release, the pair will reveal what lies beyond the cliff hanger presented at the end of the latest living story update, Point of No Return.
Fueling the fires of expansion rumors, it seems a brand new trademark has been filed by ArenaNet and NCsoft. As dug up on reddit, there’s also a new logo but little other news for now. Could this be the long-awaited expansion to Guild Wars 2?
ArenaNet is ready to send Guild Wars 2 players on the final leg of the Living Story Season 2 with the launch of Point of No Return later today. Players and Pact members alike are ready to take the fight to Elder Dragon Mordremoth and his powerful minions which will doubtless bring a season-ending cliff hanger as well.
I’m still not totally on board with the new dailies. Judging by this massive thread on the official forums, it seems I’m not alone. I still stand by my original article last month that it’s not a big enough change to make me rip my hair out and quit the game or anything quite so drastic, but I’m also not sure the revamp is having the desired effect.
