PlayStation Lifestyle Interviews Harada on What We Can Expect from Tekken 7

PlayStation Lifestyle recently sat down with Tekken 7 producer Katsuhiro Harada, to discuss some details on the upcoming Tekken 7 console port. There is a lot of mystery surrounding exactly what features and content is coming to the console release, though we do get a hint here or there. Here’s a quote from Harada:

The Tekken series has continued for 20 years, and you’ve seen what we have done in the past, right? Has there ever been an installment in which we never including anything extra for the console release?

While promising, it doesn’t offer much to fuel discussion. When pressed further, we were given little tidbits about what to expect as far as the story itself is concerned.

The main storyline portrays the showdown between Heihachi and Kazuya Mishima. Not only that, but we delve into why the father and son began their quarrel in the first place. A lot of the mysteries that were left unanswered will be explained.

Harada also hinted at the potential long term DLC plan when asked.

Up until now, our DLC was free, but we were only able to provide free content for two to three months after launch. However, current feedback from players has been that they want to see a longer span of support after the release, so we are currently still discussing our plans for DLC.

More was discussed in the interview, so be sure to check it out to catch up on the exact details provided.

Tokido Talks to Red Bull about Street Fighter V’s Input Lag and How Certain Characters Became Weaker When It Was Reduced

One of the most contentious issues about Street Fighter V has been the game’s input delay. At launch, the game had a larger-than-average amount of input delay–8 frames–than most fighting games. While this has now been reduced, many are hoping that it be brought down even more.

At the recently concluded Red Bull Battle Grounds, Red Bull eSports’ Anne Ellis got a chance to talk to Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi about this issue. According to Tokido, due to the input lag, aggressive players stood a better chance at winning. “One mix-up is all it took to score a victory” he states. He further elaborates, saying that certain characters, such as Laura, benefited a lot from the input delay, making their mix-up-centric play styles stronger. Once the input lag was reduced however, these characters started losing more–since their mix-ups became much easier to react to.

Tokido hopes that if Capcom reduces the input delay further, they also take these characters into consideration and adjust them accordingly. “Maybe they can change more,” he says. “They changed only input lag. I think maybe it is good they change something more.”

Of course, that’s not all that Tokido talks about in the interview. He also discusses his character choice, the concept of “fairness,” and of course, Akuma. Check out the full article over at Red Bull eSports.

Tokido’s Word on Akuma Coming to Street Fighter V: “Finally.”

Tokido drops the murderface to have a friendly post-Red Bull Battle Grounds chat with Matt Edwards of Capcom. He also has commendations for RB, who he says is “the best” Urien he’s come across and ANBU|Punk for making use of his experience playing online work for him in the tournament environment.

“People Just View Me as Another Player”: Sherry Jenix Talks to Yahoo! Esports about Confidence in the FGC

Sherry “Sherry Jenix” Nhan of Gamester Gear is one of the best female players in Street Fighter. Starting out as a C. Viper player in Street Fighter IV and transitioning to Necalli in Street Fighter V, she is constantly on the move to the events, grinding out her understanding of the game the hard way. Being a woman in a predominantly man’s world does not make her road easy, but it is obviously one that she knows how to handle.

When she sat down to talk to Yahoo! Esports, she talks about the need for confidence–especially for women–in playing. She also talks about the struggles that females face when entering the scene, as well as the difference she sees in perspectives between the offline and online scenes when dealing with her, and how she handles the inherent drama thrown her way by the FGC.

NuckleDu Doesn’t Think Younger Players Have an Advantage in Street Fighter V

One of the players from the West that has been making a big splash as of late is Team Liquid’s Du “NuckleDu” Dang. NuckleDu is currently on an SFV hot streak, having won both Canada Cup 2016 and the CPT North American Regional Finals at Red Bull Battle Grounds–both Capcom Pro Tour qualifying events.

Capcom community manager Matt Edwards caught up with NuckleDu at Red Bull Battle Grounds to talk to him about his amazing performance and a few other topics.

One of the first things Edwards asked was about age, with three of the top four players at Red Bull Battle Grounds being aged 21 and under. To this, NuckleDu replied that, aside from maybe having more free time, he doesn’t think that being younger doesn’t necessarily give an advantage in Street Fighter V. He follows this up by mentioning other players who are older, such as Zowie|Gamerbee, HORI|Sako, and of course BST|Daigo who are all doing well competitively.

Of course, this is just a small part of what they talk about in the interview. Check out the full interview below.

“Street Fighter Is about Getting Into the Opponent’s Head”: Pros, Players, and Commentators Discuss the Art of Street Fighter

During the madness of the Red Bull Battle Grounds, Red Bull eSports caught up with various Street Fighter players to discuss what Street Fighter means to them and why they play the characters they do. Talking to people like Ultradavid and Seth Killian, to master Street Fighter is master one’s own mind while exploiting your opponent’s weakness. Like any other game requiring strategy, a top Street Fighter player must be able to predict and out-think their opponent, while keeping calm and not faltering when put in a stressful situation which may cause mistakes.

This strategy often manifests in character choice, as certain fighters allow players to exert pressure in a way which meshes with their playstyle and mindset. To this end, Red Bull talked to players like their very own Snake Eyez, BST|Daigo Umehara and EG|Justin Wong to understand why a specific character resonates with them.
