Everyone has a fighting chance
I wasn’t overly fond of Destiny when it launched last year. I enjoyed the tight FPS controls on my PS4, but the hackneyed story, the repetitive progression, and the overall disjointed feeling of so many long loading screens between everything eventually pushed me away. But I recently came back, and this time I think I might stay for a while…
38Studios, founded by baseball superstar Curt Schilling, took a loan for $75M from the state of Rhode Island, a loan which the company defaulted on in spectacular fashion. In 2012, a suit was filed against twelve defendants (now only eight) in an effort to recoup the loan. On Friday, a judge ordered a $12.5M to be paid by four defendants. This is added to an earlier judgment $4.37M.
Cryptic Studios is ready to unleash the next major update to Champions Online on September 17th. Called "Supervillain Onslaught", players will be able to take on the role of an iconic bad guy from the game and take on other players called "guardians" who are tasked with trying to stop the chaotic run through Millenium City.
Player housing in Shards Online is unique for many reasons. The biggest reason is because your house and the decorations/furniture/trophies you put inside it are more real than in other MMOs. Everything you find or create as you explore the worlds of Shards Online can be used to decorate your home, inside and out, to make it stand out. You will hire NPCs to work on your land as guards, merchants, or even an apprentices to your craft.
Inixsoft has announced that Thanatos players can get a head start on the October 1st launch by participating in a special "pre-participation" event on September 16th. Players create a Thanatos account that will see an in-game event rewarded once the game launches. The team has plans to introduce other pre-launch events as well.
Divergence Online, called the ‘spiritual successor to pre-CU Star Wars Galaxies’ by its development team, has started a brand new Indiegogo fundraising campaign for $15,000 to fund continued development. Potential contributors can download an available client to try before backing the project, an interesting twist on most crowd-funding campaigns.
The LG 21:9 Curved UltraWide Monitor is the latest in display technology from LG. We’re willing to bet more than a few of you are using multiple monitors, and if not… you’re probably sadly stuck on a smaller laptop or worse… a CRT monitor (I remember when my Compaq Presario was bleeding edge, too!). The folks at LG have the solution to your woes in the UltraWide.
As of four days ago, the MUD KickStarter initiative has been canceled. The team had been funding MUD through "for hire" work for other projects. During the campaign, however, developers received several offers to create games for other companies. As a result, time to get MUD further along in its development schedule has decreased to the point that cancellation became the best course of action. Thanks to MMORPG.com user Slapshot1188
There are two things that I really like about Destiny: its tried and true Bungie combat, and its phenomenal vistas. As I’ve written about in the past, I find the FPS gameplay in Destiny to be engaging enough, and I really enjoy the game’s visuals, but have been unimpressed by its overall approach to content and lack of streamlining.
Obsidian Entertainment has sent out a cool new trailer that thanks Armored Warfare closed beta testers for their feedback during testing. The team acknowledges how crucial community input is to the development process. Check it out!
