As we announced elsewhere on the site, Blade & Soul is finally coming to Europe and North America this winter, with a closed beta beginning this fall. The Free to Play MMORPG from Team Bloodsport and NCSOFT has a lot of pent up demand behind it, and we got our hands on the Force Master, Blademaster, and Summoner classes to give you our first impressions.
Some might say that 3 years is too long to wait for an Eastern bred MMORPG to come to the West. In the case of Blade & Soul, it seems like the long detour to an English client has only created more pent up demand for the Wuxia-themed game from NCSOFT and Team Bloodlust. And we’re happy to announce that Blade and Soul is indeed launching as a F2P MMORPG in the US and EU this winter, with a closed beta to begin this fall. The wait, as it were, is almost over.
When most people were watching the fireworks on the cool evening of July 4th, Chance Ravinne, stealth bomber extraordinaire, was making his own. If we were to count all the MMOGs and quasi-MMOGs presently in various stages of testing, I have no doubt that the total would have three digits. Naturally, they’d differ widely with respect to how much interest they are generating. Frankly, we’d find a fair number that are effectively invisible, unknown except to the most ardent industry observers.

Neocore Games has announced that the final chapter in the series, Van Helsing III, will be released on May 22nd, exactly a year since the release of the second game. inXile Entertainment has announced that it will be starting a Kickstarter initiative for Bard’s Tale IV that will begin on June 2nd. Not coincidentally, that date marks the thirtieth anniversary of the original release of the first Bard’s Tale game.
