Everyone has a fighting chance
Ah, Second Life. It’s still the angsty teenager of the MMO world, even though it’s been around for more than a decade. My account is almost as old as the game – May of 2004 – but I definitely do not play in the world as much as I have in the past. Second Life really deserves full attention, or at least it can demand it, just like a teenager. It’s also full of energy and hormones and bursting with creative ideas… just like a teenager.
With Tamriel Unlimited releasing next week, I thought now would be an excellent time discuss some of the addons that I feel new and old players of ESO should be using. There are hundreds of different addons for ESO but for this column I’m going to focus on five quality of life addons, helping to increase your gaming experience.
Chroma Squad, a tactical RPG inspired by Saban’s Power Rangers, will be released on April 30th via Steam for PC/Mac/Linux. Funded via KickStarter, Chroma Squad puts players in the role of a sentai television studio manager that ultimately will control cast members in turn-based tactical combat.
Chad "Pappilicious" Moore has announced via Twitter that a new 10-day free trial program has started for WildStar.
Trion has released an interesting new info-graphic that shows some pretty cool facts about Rift in celebration of the game’s fourth anniversary. For instance, nearly 1.5B quests have been completed by Defiant (46% of the population) and Guardian (54% of the population) players. See what other nifty factoids can be learned about four years of Rift in the image below.
Trion Worlds is ready to unleash Secrets of Ayanad on ArcheAge live servers. The update brings a level cap increase, the Diamond Shores location, the Ayanad Library and more into the game. To celebrate the big update, Trion has released a new trailer. Check it out!
The next Guild Wars 2 update slated for deployment today, March 10th, has been delayed. Players will have to wait a bit longer for the first person camera that is in QA for an indeterminate amount of time to assess its readiness for live servers. At this point, ArenaNet does not have a specific date when the update will be released but has promised to keep the community informed.
Webzen has announced that Age of Wulin, the EU version of Age of Wushu, has been updated with the latest content addition called "Chapter 4: Betrayal and Forgiveness". Chapter 4 brings six new player factions into the game and gives players an opportunity to explore new ways to play the game based on factional choices.
Wargaming has announced that World of Warships will officially kick off closed beta testing on March 12th. The game has undergone a lengthy alpha phase and several special event weekends. The news that WoWS is finally entering beta should come as good news to players.
The Elite: Dangerous forum has been updated with the patch note for the Wings content expansion. Wings brings some very nice multiplayer features on board with the Wings beacon system that allows players to send signals to super cruiser environments. Beacon functionality allows other players and NPC ships accessing the signal to drop into the same location and is considered an enhancement for cooperative adventuring.
