Everyone has a fighting chance
It’s been about 6 weeks or so since Guild Wars 2 has had a major update. During those 6 weeks, there has been a WvW tournament, followed by a 2 week pause. Now for the next couple of weeks there’s the Halloween event, which is the same as last years. That’s a long time for nothing to be happening in the world of Tyria. The next installment of the Living World, Tyria’s Point of No Return, better be flawless.
As an MMO based on the Dungeons & Dragons / Wizards of the Coast ruleset, Neverwinter developer, Cryptic Studios, is charged with ensuring that the world stays up to date with the latest edition. Regardless of the culture of origin, seemingly all online games this year are holding some kind of Halloween event. Strategy game Forge of Empires is bringing back popular spook Jack O’Lantern October 22 until November 5. Korean company Webzen is also getting into the act with Halloween events for its games, Continent of the 9th Seal, Archlord 2, and MU Online.
Things just got a bit more otherworldly in Lineage II. From October 22 to November 5, Alien Researchers will be invading level 85+ hunting zones and monsters will drop Monster Research books. The L2B2 NPC is also in town. The week after, from November 5 to November 12, the L2B2 is still hanging out, but no more Monster Research drops. Finally, November 12, the L2B2 makes like a tree and leaves, taking with him the Laser Gun and Monster Research.
The final countdown to the All Hallow’s Eve is on and online game makers are celebrating with a host of seasonal events. Darkfall Unholy Wars is adding new Feats and special candy-dropping monsters, while ArcheAge and Kings and Legends are opting for new costumes, decor and a new Pumpkin Lord card, respectively.
The good news is, Tera’s continent of Arun is finally open. The bad news is, it’s under siege. The home city of the Barakan race is beset by a blood mage army and the native Khirians are in desperate need of help.
Hit wargame World of Warplanes this week added a new line of Tier 5 and higher Russian MiG fighters and revamped existing planes by adding a new multi-role class of warplanes.
From October 25 to October 31, strategy role-playing-game Age of Warriors is rewarding players with a special candy drop from exploring Battle Soul and summoning elements and Battles. Candy can be exchanged for the seasonal Pumpkin Lord outfit, the Haunted Pumpkin avatar, the Iron Ingot Chest or the Skill Books Package.
