General: PAX East – Lawbreakers Impressions

Lawbreakers has been on the radar for a while. A game that has been picked up by Nexon and being made here in North America is a switch to normal publishing from Asian companies. However, it is great to see Nexon fully investing in North American games, even publishing them both here and across the pond. Lawbreaker’s is Boss Key Productions arena shooter which moves at an extremely fast pace.

General: Expedition: Vikings – Firmly Grounded in Historical Accuracy

Last weekend at PAX East I got the chance to demo Expedition: Vikings, the follow-up to Logic Artists Expedition: Conquistadors. Set in approximately 700 AD, you play the Chieftain of a small Viking village, in search of glory and wealth to improve and expand your village and your standing in the Viking world. You recruit raiding party members from within the population of your village, and then you lead them out into the world in search of adventure.

General: VReal Seeks to Bring a Twitch Experience to VR

UploadVR.com has an interesting preview for a new program on the way to virtual reality fans everywhere. Called VReal, the platform seeks to bring a ‘Twitch-like’ experience to virtual reality games. In essence, it brings players into the experience of the player they’re watching.

General: The Culling – Battles that Play Out Like The Hunger Games

Survival games remain very popular among MMO players these days. Especially if you were into hardcore PvP back in the old days. Each one coming up offers some twists and turns on an already solid premise. Of all these The Culling really caught our eye at PAX East. The battles play out like Battle Royale or Hunger Games in most respects, which makes this game a lot of fun to play and even fun to watch.

General: Duelyst Officially Launches

Counterplay Games has announced that its collectible card game, Duelyst, has officially launched. Players can take part in several game modes including competitive modes that include ranked season play across five divisions; practice mode pitting players against AI; and draft mode called The Gauntlet.

General: Cryptic Hiring Producers – What MMO is Next?

Cryptic Studios may be looking to its stable of MMOs with yesterday’s Gamasutra posting looking for producers for an as-yet unnamed project. Given Cryptic’s rich MMO development of games including Neverwinter, Champions Online and Star Trek Online, it seems to be a promising development.
