PUBG Details An In-Depth Look At It’s Anti Cheat Efforts In A New Video

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has always dealt with cheaters. Every major online game in recent memory has dealt with cheaters of every kind. PUBG Corp has taken steps throughout its life to quell these cheaters, and a new video by the battle-royale maker hope to detail some of the behind the scenes work it’s taken towards these efforts.

New PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Game Announced that May Not be a Battle Royale

PUBG Corp has announced the formation of a new studio called Striking Distance headed by former Call of Duty and Dead Space developer Glen Schofield. Striking Distance is working on an unnamed PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds game. Schofield, while providing few details, did state that he has “the freedom to explore the PUBG universe” and that he’s excited about possibilities that that brings which he “views as beyond the battle royale genre”.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Sells Nearly 5M Copies in 2019 Alone

While Fortnite is the undisputed champ of battle royale games at the moment, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds has been quietly plugging away. According to Super Data Research, PUBG has sold 4.7M copies of the game in 2019 alone. As PUBG sells for $30 per copy, that amounts to $141M dollars in 2019 not including any shop purchases, battle pass revenue, etc.

PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds Erangel Map is Getting a Big Visual Update

The PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds site has been updated with a new letter from the producer with some big news for players: the Erangel map is getting a massive visual upgrade to give it “the same level of polish as our more recent maps”. The goal is to give Erangel more realistic scenery and terrain. The upgraded map should be available on the Test Server starting today and running through June 11th. It will be available on live servers later this summer.
