Early morning at PAX we got the chance to meet with Hi-Rez about their Smite Tactics strategy game Hand of the Gods. Hand of the Gods mixes classic card game style building with a strategy board that plays out like chess. There is much more to the game than just drawing cards and matching abilities. There is movement, board control and a great mix of characters to choose from.
– Warhammer 40K: Inquisitor Martyr Hands On Preview
When I caught word that NeocoreGames, the developer behind The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing, was taking their ARPG talents to the Warhammer 40,000 Universe I have to admit I was intrigued. As a long time fan of Van Helsing 1(check out my review here) and 2 I was interested to see how NeocoreGames would implement their unique design philosophies to both an established IP and genre.
– Rend PAX West Preview – A Great Surprise
MMOs continue to come out and many of us are happy to see them return. REND is a survival MMO that we cannot wait to play. The game hosts what is best in survival with a three way battle for supremacy on the map. With a twist on bows and crossbows in fantasy this game plays like a shooter, but keeps its fantasy edge. Here are some of the details about REND.
– Nightmarchers Aims to Make Hawaii an RPG Landmark
Scott Brown should be familiar to you all – as the former founder of NetDevil, he’s responsible for some of my own favorite games: Auto Assault and Jumpgate. After NCSOFT’s partnership and the subsequent closure of NetDevil’s games, Scott Brown and some of his colleagues left to found their own indie studio and make their own games once more – Wyrmbyte was born. The five-man studio is now making the open world RPG Nightmarchers, and it’s sounding like a game to watch.

– Fortnite is a Game You Want to Try
I’m writing this, instead of playing Fortnite, because the game is currently down for maintenance and taking longer than anticipated because they’ve had to scale up exponentially and broke themselves. That’s a good problem to have, I suppose – game’s doing really well in sales and had to come down to increase server load. But while I wait, here’s why I think the MMORPG.com crowd should give this one a look.
– Brightlocker Wants to Connect You to Your Games
Brightlocker is a new game development, game sharing, game funding, game streaming, game everything platform from a group of industry veterans based out of Austin Texas. What is it exactly? Try to imagine one service that connects the capabilities and functions of Kickstarter, Twitch, Social Media, and Private Forums all in one place. It’s a service that wants to connect players and devs in deeper ways than any before it, to let both work together to foster great games on a more tangible level.
– Citadel: Forged With Fire Open Beta Preview
Citadel had its open beta this weekend just days before its early access coming up on the 26th of July. The best way to begin our impressions feature is with three words: wizards, wands, and dragons. This sandbox takes what is best in games like Ark and DayZ and brings it into a solid fantasy genre where you are a wizard. Instead of guns and dinosaurs, you’ll have spells, staves, and plenty of monsters to battle and tame.
– Archeage Begins Impressions – Beautiful & Tempting
Archeage Begins is the new mobile game that shares its name with the Trion Worlds Archeage MMO that many of us are familiar with, but the comparisons stop there. Archeage Begins is in its second closed beta, but ironically is open to anyone who can find it. The closed beta is running now through July 3rd and all data will be deleted at the end of the CBT period and will not be saved for Global Launch.
