The Wild West Online forum has a new post for fans of the game that includes a visual look at nearly all of the weapons that will eventually be available in the game. Over twenty firearms are shown along with the context that all of the weapons are historically accurate while retaining the ‘fun’ aspect for using them as well.

The Wild West Online team has posted a lengthy article on its Facebook page to let players know that the technical alpha has ended with last weekend’s event. Rather than continue for another weekend, developers felt that they had enough feedback to cull through to allow the team to make some significant time to fix bugs and bring new features on board. In an interesting side note, devs say that refunds were handed out but most typically to players who spent little time in game.

The Wild West Online Facebook page has been updated with a list of things that are changing as the team preps to welcome players back into the game for alpha weekend #2. Many of the changes came directly as a result of community feedback after last weekend’s inaugural event.

The Wild West Online team has posted a brief note of thanks to players who took part in Alpha 1 over the past weekend and assured everyone that firm plans are in place for next weekend’s Alpha 2. The post acknowledges the “ups and downs” of the experience, but also reminds readers that this is to be expected for an alpha build.

Wild West Online has officially entered closed alpha testing for backers and supporters of the game. Keys went out late yesterday afternoon. During the multi-week Closed Alpha, players will be able to take part in Gold Rush to collect, mine, refine and sell…or steal all the gold you wish.

If you’ve backed Wild West Online at a level that will allow alpha access, start checking your inbox as the keys will be coming today. The alpha event is set to kick off on Friday, September 15th. The Wild West Online site has been updated with the start date fro the closed alpha. According to the site, it will begin on September 15th. Anyone purchasing the Collector level Founder Pack will have access to Closed Alpha testing as well as Early Access to the Closed Beta later this fall and a few days Early Access prior to the game’s release. The Collector pack is $60.

The Wild West Online forum has a detailed post about both the Reputation / Fame System and how griefers and PvP will function in the game. The goal is, according to the post, to ensure that PvP remains unrestricted but simultaneously inhospitable to griefing, something that “plagues a lot of open world games”.

The Wild West Online team has sent out the very first game play video from the game that shows off an amazing looking old west world. The video features 6 minutes of game play action from the earliest moments in the world.

The Wild West Online team is going to be bringing that realism into its game at launch and will include things like roulette and card games.
