Everyone has a fighting chance
From today through November 30th, World of Warcraft players can celebrate the game’s 14th birthday. Everyone logging in will receive a special gift that contains Timewarped Badges, items that boost XP and reputation gains for an hour, and a letter from the Timewalkers that sends players off on a quest to their capital city.
Several World of Warcraft “blue posts” cropped up overnight with news about a new WoW forum system, some help incoming for Allies when in War Mode and that the fifth ring on Azerite armor is coming in January.
The World of Warcraft team has announced that the Classic demo length has been extended and players can check it out through Monday, November 12th. In addition, the playtime limits have been removed (earlier this week). You will have either had to have been a BlizzCon attendee or to have purchased a Virtual Ticket in order to participate.
If there is one thing World of Warcraft developers love to do, it is to place well-hidden secrets in the game. There is even a dedicated group on Discord that charges itself with deciphering the clues and getting them organized properly to reveal cool new things. In the past, this has included pets and mounts. The latest secret uncovered is in Waycrest Manor, a dungeon found on Kul Tiras in Battle for Azeroth.
The World of Warcraft: Classic panel has wrapped up and the Blizzard team has updated the official site with a lengthy recap of all that was discussed during the hour-long presentation. Readers will learn about the search for the databases, art assets and source code for vanilla and how they used those as the basis for a prototype before turning it into the demo that players have had a chance to try out over this past weekend.
During today’s World of Warcraft What’s Next Panel at BlizzCon 2018, the team announced a number of new features coming in 8.1.5 and 8.2/8.2.5. Among them are some long-requested features.
When the World of Warcraft: Classic demo debuts once BlizzCon gets underway tomorrow, players will have a limit to how long they can play before being “booted” and unable to play for a short period of time. After an hour’s cumulative playtime, you’ll have to wait for the 30 minute Global Cool Down in order to play again.
Everyone needs to choose the Horde or Alliance these days, even Minecraft fans. One fan, commissioned by Blizzard, has faithfully recreated both Orgrimmar, capital of the Horde and Stormwind, capital of the Alliance, within the game of Minecraft. Blizzard has posted a brief note to fans heading to the Anaheim Convention Center for BlizzCon 2018 about extra security measures being put in place to ensure that fans are safe over the weekend. At every point of entrance, fans will be walking through metal detectors and submitting their carried items to a bag check. The team is recommending that attendees arrive earlier than normal as the process could slow entrance to the venue.
It appears that Blizzard Entertainment is making “good” on its recent commitment to better player communication. A round of surveys have been sent out to recent World of Warcraft subscribers who have since left the game after having played the Battle for Azeroth expansion. Questions run across a broad spectrum of topics including how likely a player might be to return to WoW if concerns were addressed and many others.
