The Playoff Picture: Who Has Made it Into Capcom Cup 2016?

With only a handful of events still to go, we are nearing a fully fleshed-out bracket for Capcom Cup. While it is not yet set in stone, The Daily Dot has compiled a list on who is in, and who is just barely sitting on the bubble for the event.

Currently guaranteed-in are the likes of Seon-woo “Infiltration” Lee, Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi, Bruce “Gamerbee” Hsiang, Arman “Phenom” Hanjani, Zhuojun “Xiaohai” Zeng, Yusuke Momochi, Justin Wong, Keita “Fuudo” Ai, Du “NuckleDu” Dang, Julio Fuentes, Thomas “Brolynho” Proenca, Felipe “Misterio” Torres, Olivier “Luffy” Hay, and Younes “CCL” Lazaar. Currently in good standings include Daigo Umehara, Kun “Xian” Ho, Hiroyuki “Eita” Nagata, Ryan “FChamp” Ramirez, Joe “MOV” Egami, Nathan “Mister Crimson” Massol, Ricki Ortiz, and Kenryo “Mago” Hayashi.

The most important one to look at is the bubble, which includes Miky “XSK_Samurai” Chea, Chris Tatarian, Benjamin “Problem X” Simon, and many others who have been fighting hard to have a banner year.

Mark Your Calendars as the Red Bull Kumite Returns on April 30th 2017

Looking forward to next year and a time after Capcom Cup 2016, Red Bull have announced that their special invitational Red Bull Kumite event will be making a comeback on April 30th 2017. With the success of multiple Red Bull Street Fighter V events like the Proving Grounds and the 5G, 2017’s event should be bigger and better than the last one, having multiple events’ experience under their belts.

If it follows the trend of the previous years, the Red Bull Kumite will act as Europe’s big Street Fighter V event as hosted by Red Bull, with it probably taking place in Paris, as in both 2015 or 2016–no news on whether it is locating to another big European city like London, Berlin, or Rome, but stay tuned for more information. Like many of the CPT Regional Finals, the Kumite has a set number of 14 invited players, with the final two qualifying via a 256 -player open qualifier to fill out the final 16. This year, YP|Valmaster and FA|Big Bird were the two qualifying players, with RZR|Infiltration taking the whole tournament. With Capcom Cup 2016 in the meantime between now and Red Bull Kumite 2017, let’s see if any fresh new faces displace old champions for the invitational spots.
