Luminosity Gaming Signs Yuta “Abadango” Kawamura as Their First Super Smash Bros. Player

Alongside the action going on at The Big House 6 this weekend, another big name in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U has been picked up by a top flight esports team. Making their first steps into fighting games, Luminosity Gaming has signed Mewtwo specialist and current fifth in the world at Smash 4, Yuta “Abadango” Kawamura as their first player.

First proving his immense skill in Smash 4 with his Pac-Man back at Apex 2015, Abadango is now considered the world’s best Mewtwo, with victories at Pound 2016, PPT Summer and Clutch City Clash, along with top 8 finishes at CEO 2016, Evo 2016 and Super Smash Con. Acting as the first player to really show Mewtwo’s sheer power at a high level, with his usage of the Disable infinite and mastery of the neutral game, Abadango is a definite force to be reckoned with. Discussing their entry into the fighting game scene, Luminosity Gaming founder Steve Maida stated that “after meeting with Abadango, getting to know him and his history within the competitive scene, it was clear that he was someone we wanted on Luminosity.  This is just the beginning of our journey into FGC and there is surely more to come.  The community is unlike any other in gaming and one we hope to be a welcomed, contributing member of for years to come!”

With the backing of a multi-game esports team, Abadango should be able to attend even more events worldwide and assert his dominance as one of the best Smash 4 players out there at the moment. He is currently competing at The Big House 6, sitting in Winners’ Side of Top 32 and set to face noted free agent, Mr. R in round 1. Let’s hope the new sponsorship curse does not strike Abadango now!

Freeser Details How To Deal with Neutral Jumping Opponents as Birdie in Street Fighter V

While he can use the chain to drag people back down to Earth, Birdie does have some difficulty dealing with neutral jumps in Street Fighter V. If Birdie players are able to shut down the neutral jump option, it is very easy for this portly punk to steamroll through their opponent’s defence and gain control of the neutral.

To help out fellow Birdie mains, Freeser has put together a guide, listing the best options Birdie has for challenging opponents who love to neutral jump. Moves like crouching medium punch and Bull Horn can work if people are attacking from a neutral jump, and if the opponent then attempts to bait the anti-air with an empty jump, Birdie can then use EX Bull Horn, EX Bull Head or EX Hanging Chain to punish the empty jump.

It is possible to get a V-Trigger juggle off the EX Bull Head but it is quite risky, so try this follow up at your own discretion. By mixing up these options, Birdie players can make their opponents scared to jump and force them to play a grounded game.

Stop Pressing Buttons! Skullgirls 2nd Encore CMV Showcases the Dangers of Mashing Mindlessly

Skullgirls is a game that particularly rewards players for knowing their opponent’s next action. There are so many defensive and offensive options that if you know your opponent, you can press that knowledge both in neutral and during pressure.

For our topic today, Skullgirls has IPS, which protects the game from having infinite combos. If IPS sparks are activated, pressing a button will allow the defender to burst out of the combo. However, if the attacker anticipates this and avoids the burst, they are awarded with a full punish. This CMV showcases just how powerful burst baits are when used properly.

Jubei Sound Files Datamined in BlazBlue: Central Fiction

The most sought-after cat-sensei, Jubei, may be making his way onto the playable cast of BlazBlue: Central Fiction soon. By digging around in the game’s files, users found announcer data saying the character’s name:

There are also sound clips of each of the system voices calling Jubei out in different ways, like Kokonoe calling Jubei “old man” when he is selected.

Keep in mind however, that this doesn’t confirm the character just yet, and it’s not possible to predict when Arc System Works will add him — if they add him at all. For instance, BlazBlue: Chronophantasma contained voice clips and character retorts for Hibiki Kohaku, but the developer didn’t add him until Central Fiction.

We’ll keep our ears out sharp for an official Jubei trailer should Arc System Works ever let the cat out of the bag.
