Steam Now Accepts Mexican and Turkish Currency

Valve announced plans earlier this year to expand payment options on Steam to a variety of worldwide currencies, making it easier for customers around the world to know the exact amount of their purchases without having to convert to the United States dollar manually. While the digital gaming platform previously accepted the aforementioned dollar, the Euro, the pound, the Brazilian real, and the Russian ruble, this program is planned to eventually extend the courtesy to twelve additional nations throughout 2014.

Today, support for two more currencies in this program, Mexico’s peso and Turkey’s Lira, was rolled out, giving players in those countries the ability to use a money they are more familiar with. These two options join Maylasia’s ringget, the Philippines’ peso, Singapore’s dollar, Indonesia’s rupiah, and Thailand’s baht, all of which were quietly added to the online service in September.

As of now, Valve still plans to implement options for New Zealand’s dollar, Ukraine’s hryvnia, Canada’s dollar, South Korea’s won, and Norway’s krone.

With a wide variety of fighters now and soon to be available on Steam, including Ultra Street Fighter IV, King of Fighters XIII, Mortal Kombat X, and more, this could prove to be a boost to their online communities.
