Wednesday Night Fights Begins Anew on February 18
Last year, Wednesday Night Fights parted amicably with longtime host Super Arcade. While weekly tournaments would continue in the same location (but under a different name) until they were forced to pack up, eyes were still on Level|Up Series and the tournament brand they had built up in Southern California.
Answers would come shortly after from co-founder Alex Valle, who mentioned during a live broadcast that the organization had decided to forgo physical venues in favor of online tournaments. Little additional information was attached to the initial announcement, but we now have a better idea of what these netplay events will look like thanks to a recent update.
Wednesday Night Fights Online Edition is scheduled to begin on February 18, bringing the Ultra Street Fighter IV action the tournament series is known for to an entirely different realm of competition. Matches will play out on PC through Steam’s digital platform.
There are restrictions, however. Only those in North America will be able to take part, meaning players outside of the United States, Canada, and Mexico will have to spectate for the time being. That being said, pulling talent from the entire continent instead of a single region is sure to provide some interesting moments.
More details are forthcoming, so stay tuned.

Blackguards 2: Waging a Campaign to Rule the World
Blackguards 2 is the sequel to 2013’s strategy role playing game Blackguards by Daedalic Entertainment. At the beginning of Blackguards you will find yourself at the bottom of a dungeon and at the edge of your sanity with your only companions a jailer who hates you and spiders that want to eat you. From these humble beginnings you will wage a campaign to rule the world.
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U Patch Greatly Expands Stage Options in 8-Player Mode
While it certainly won’t affect tournament play, Nintendo’s most recent Super Smash Bros. for Wii U patch more than doubles the pool of playable stages in 8-Player Smash mode. This news comes as quite the boon to the casual Smasher who has plenty of extra controllers lying around and enough friends to fill each one, and should also add a good deal more variety to the frantic action that the mode already offers.
The new stages can be broken up into two quick lists, which you’ll find below.
Standard Mode
- Mario Circuit
- Luigi’s Mansion
- Pyrosphere
- Norfair
- Lylat Cruise
- Pokemon Stadium 2
- Animal Crossing – Town and City
- Animal Crossing – Smashville
- Wii Fit Studio
Omega Mode
- Mario Galaxy
- Mario Circuit
- Kirby: The Great Cave Offensive
- Lylat Cruise
- Pokemon Stadium 2
- Animal Crossing – Town and City
The patch weighs in at a modest 316 MB and can be downloaded to your Wii U console right now!
