Link’s Bomb Trumping Makes Edge Guarding a Blast in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Yesterday, we featured a video from My Smash Corner that breaks down the strategic options tied to ledge punishing and the lack of invulnerability frames on a second ledge grab without first returning to the stage. My Smash Corner offered an incredible list of attacks that will connect with opponents hanging from the side of a stage, but one particularly interesting option for Link wasn’t directly covered.
This option, which comes from LordWilliam1234, makes use of a bomb, as well as Link’s z-air. It turns out that if Link is holding a bomb when he shoots out his grappling hook, he’ll drop the bomb at the same time the hook begins to extend. With proper spacing, this will allow Link a setup that pops opponents off the edge of the stage and right into the bomb. There are plenty of ways to follow this up, and the video covers a couple of good examples. Once opponents get wise to this trick, the mind games can begin.
Also note that this technology works with Toon Link, though his follow-ups are quite different.
