Ken’s Basics Shine Through in Street Fighter V Footage

While reveal trailers and written details are all well and good, the real way to learn more about a fighting game character is to see them in action. Luckily, a portion of Fresno’s community is attending San Diego Comic-Con and captured a little more than five minutes of Ken gameplay in Street Fighter V.

In the video below, the folks on the sticks do their part to showcase as much as possible, running through the returning fighter’s normals, specials, V-Trigger, and more before performing a few simple combos. There’s sure to be more to come as the convention wears on, but this should be a great starting point for those of you eager to learn more about what Ken has at his disposal.

UPDATE (4:34 PM PDT) – Fresno Gaming Community has also shared a video of Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas and Maximilian competing in Ken mirror match.

Persia Explores Two Key Matches from Community Effort Orlando 2015’s Marvel Finals

BROKENTIER’s Samantha “Persia” Hancock returned today with another installment of Marvel Minds, her ongoing series dedicated to analyzing high-level Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 play. This time around, she’s focusing in on the pair of matches played between iG|FullSchedule and Jan at Community Effort Orlando 2015.

We say “matches” because these two competitors met twice, first in the winners side of top eight and later in grand finals. While FullSchedule was first sent to the losers bracket by Jan’s team of big bodies, he was able to adapt and put up an amazing fight in the championship set.

Fast, Long-Range Attacks Make Up Ken’s Arsenal in Street Fighter V

By now, I’m sure many of you know Ken will appear in Street Fighter V (and if not, what are you waiting for?!), but fortunately Capcom’s Peter “Combofiend” Rosas also took the time to explain a bit of his gameplay for folks who weren’t fortunate enough to attend Comic-Con.

Ken’s V-Skill, Quick Step, will allow him to rush towards his opponent in a sprint. This run can be canceled near the end into his step kick or other undefined attacks. As he generally tends to play a little more offensively than friendly rival Ryu, this will likely help Ken establish a strong pressure game and keep enemies on their toes even from further away.

Once he gets in, Ken can activate Heat Rush, a V-Skill that covers his body in flames and upgrades his various special attacks. The added number of hits and adjusted trajectory will allow Ken to perform brand new combos unavailable outside of this ability.

Rosas also teased an future announcement, possibly to be made at Evo 2015, so be sure to tune into the tournament next week for even more Street Fighter V surprises.
