World of Warcraft: Nostalrius Team Retracts Offer to Release Source Code

Citing themselves as ‘ambassadors of a larger movement’, the Nostalrius team has announced that they will not be releasing the server’s code as they had previously indicated. The decision was made to ensure that when meeting with Blizzard representatives in the near future they would have ‘all the chances on [their] side’, an admission of sorts that perhaps releasing most of the server’s code would be a bad move.

Core-A Gaming Talks Optimized Punishes in Street Fighter V

A new game often requires a new way of thinking. In the case of Street Fighter V, this is definitely true, and extends all the way to maximizing proper punishes. In a reboot of the “Breaking Street Fighter” series–this time focusing on the new game–Core-A Gaming and Laugh demonstrate some ways to make the most of punish situations.

Without the ability to chip out opponents who have low health–aside from using a Critical Art, of course–making sure every connected hit translates into the most damage possible is more important than ever. While it may be attractive to go for a Crush Counter in a situation where you block something like Ken’s EX Shoryuken, you’ll see in the video that combos can sometimes net additional damage by foregoing the Crush Counter system, instead using a neutral jump immediately after block stun ends to start a combo with a falling normal.

Using jump-ins to begin punish combos certainly isn’t a mechanic unique to Street Fighter V, but the additional counter hit state caused when striking during the recovery of moves like Ken’s Shoryuken is. This counter hit state affords punishers extra hit stun, and, therefore, extra opportunities for securing damage that wouldn’t otherwise exist.
