Capcom Catches Up with Infexious, the Poker Faced ‘Gief, at DreamHack 2016
Manchester’s DC “Rize|Infexious” Coleman recently entered DramHack Summer’s Street Fighter V tournament and performed quite well–tying for 17th place–using who many consider to be the worst character in the game. During the tournament, Capcom UK’s Matt Edwards caught up with Infexious to discuss what about Zangief drew his attention. Infexious reveals that he enjoys playing slow, high damage grapplers, especially to find hidden strengths in characters everyone else views as weak. Though he sees potential in his character, he does mention a change he would like to see the Red Cyclone receive.

Tekken X Street Fighter Release May Hinge on Tekken 7 and Street Fighter V Success
In an interview with GameSpot at this year’s E3, Tekken’s Katsuhiro Harada addressed how the development team implemented Akuma to the Tekken universe.
Harada explained that the 2012 collaboration title, Street Fighter X Tekken, was a great experience to try to get the two universes together and to see how a 3D fighting game character would behave in a 2D space in regards to gameplay. With the addition of Akuma, the Tekken 7 development team hopes to do the same thing but with a 2D fighter in a 3D space.
When asked if the fireball mechanic from Street Fighter was difficult to bring balance to, Harada responded by saying that there were plenty of instances of projectiles within the Tekken series, so balancing Akuma was not terribly difficult in regards to his signature Gohadoken.
“The thing that we really actually kind of had a bit of trouble with developing him was more the look and the feel of him. Trying to make him actually feel realistic as a 2D fighter,” said Harada.
At the very end of an interview, Harada was asked if Tekken X Street Fighter was still something that players could expect in the future if Tekken 7 does well on consoles.
Harada restated that “Tekken X Street Fighter has not been canceled; it’s just on hold.”

“Reasons are… right now Street Fighter V just launched, Capcom is putting a tremendous effort into making that successful. On our side, we released Tekken 7 in the arcade. It was even more popular than we imagined, and so we each have these two main franchises that we are trying to promote, and to have the players enjoy the moment,” said Harada.
This is in line with what Harada told GameSpot back in April when asked about Tekken X Street Fighter.
There is definitely a lot of content to enjoy with the two titles. Street Fighter V will be receiving its free Story Mode update by the end of June along with the DLC character, Ibuki. Players will also get a chance to try out the unreleased DLC characters within the story mode as Capcom continues to balance them for competitive play.
Tekken 7: Fated Retribution will release in Japanese arcades this July. The game will make its way worldwide when it releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC, in early 2017.

General: Zelda Was In Trouble, Breath of Wind Might Save It
Zelda: Breath of the Wild was the unexpected Game of the Show for many fans at this year’s E3. Many of us expected what Nintendo has been delivering: more Zelda. This time Link would be in an open world, of course, but by and large the series kept its mainstays only making additions within a well-worn wrapper.
Street Fighter V’s Input Delay Was Not Intentional, According to Combofiend
Last week, we reported that Capcom Japan’s Koichi Sugiyama had confirmed that the 8 frames of input delay native to Street Fighter V was an “intentional design choice.” However, the game’s own associate producer, Peter “Combofiend” Rosas has recently stated that this isn’t so.
In an interview with EventHubs’ John “Velociraptor” Guerrero, both Rosas and Senior Product Manager Matt Dahlgren stated that the input delay was “not a deliberate design choice.” Rosas further clarified that he believes that the interpretation of what Sugiyama actually said was incorrect, leading people to believe that the input delay was intentional.
Regarding the input delay itself, Rosas stated that they are definitely aware of it and that it wasn’t a “case closed scenario,” going on to promise that they would keep the community updated on further developments.
As an aside to this, EventHub’s Guerrero notes that reducing the delay would be a pretty big change to the game and, with this year’s Capcom Pro Tour now in full swing, any changes are likely to come after the tour concludes in December.
