After the Capcom Fighters Network Portal site covered the 12 Shadaloo Dolls back in June, Capcom has uploaded their 100th Character Profile to the CFN Portal. To celebrate this milestone, they’ve begun to take a look at some of the characters that make up the core playable portion of the Street Fighter V roster. Starting of course with the quintessential World Warrior himself, Ryu–and his Satsui no Hado-infused counterpart, Evil Ryu. Evil Ryu’s techniques are noted to be similar to those of Necalli’s, perhaps suggesting a correlation between the Satsui no Hado and the monster summoned in “The Hour of Battle?”
In addition to recapping Ryu’s current situation–traveling the world, seeking to purge the Satsui no Hado’s dark influence–it also notes his battle with Necalli, which was foretold in the ancient prophecy depicted in the Soul Consuming Darkness’ own Character Story.
As for Evil Ryu, the Shadaloo Activity Report notes that his likes are “defeating the strong,” with his dislikes being, unsurprisingly, “the weak.” Evil Ryu represents the complete opposite of the Ryu we all know and love, consumed by the Satsui no Hado in exchange for its unparalleled power. His profile artwork retains his updated look from Super Street Fighter IV Arcade Edition, including his now-iconic scarred chest, and similar to his appearance in the Street Fighter III “Ryu Final” manga.

Next up is Ken, who, in addition to his regular profile, comes bundled with a look at “Brainwashed Ken,” noted by the Activity Report as being from a “parallel universe,”–suggesting, perhaps, that he is the “Violent Ken” seen in SNK vs. Capcom: SVC Chaos. However: a version of Ken brainwashed by M. Bison’s Psycho Power (with the intent to lure out Ryu) has also existed in the Street Fighter Alpha 3 storyline, as well as in Street Fighter II: The Animated Movie. His likes are, apparently, fighting and “the smell of blood,” while his dislike is simply “boredom.”
In summary:
Ken becomes jealous as Ryu gets closer and closer to becoming a true martial artist. But Ken’s heart is weak, and is consumed by this jealousy. Bison’s Psycho Power resonates with fear and suffering, and can easily control people who fall victim to their own emotions. Ken’s regular flame turns purple due to the Psycho Power, and his blows become filled with hatred. However, when Ken sees Ryu’s red headband, he temporarily gains control of himself, because he recalls all of the memories he shared with his eternal rival.

“All men bow before me! I’m the strongest woman in the world!” In Chun-Li’s entry, the Activity Report details the “original heroine” and her role in stopping Bison’s latest schemes in the Cinematic Story Expansion.
Zangief’s profile states that the Red Cyclone is currently on a pro-wrestling tour with Alex–and his biggest fan, Rainbow Mika, of course–when he receives a summons from Karin Kanzuki about stopping Shadaloo’s Operation C.H.A.I.N.S.
Dhalsim has become an even greater Yoga master since the events of Street Fighter IV, due to his strict training in the art–to the point where he is nearly deified by the people of India. After aiding Ryu in his inner struggles, he is confronted by the ancient warrior Necalli. His son Datta and his wife Sally are also both featured in his profile. It is noted that “Sally keeps the entire family energetic with her fantastic cooking,” though Dhalsim’s stretchy limbs don’t appear to have much use around the house. They also train together in Yoga as a family, but the other two are not able to elongate their body like the Yoga master can.

The “Paradoxical Avenger,” Nash, has been resurrected by the Secret Society in Street Fighter V, with the former American Air Force Lieutenant now having the sole purpose of killing M. Bison. Formerly best friends with Guile, Nash feels betrayed and only believes in himself now–in his former life, he was known as a calculated and cool character, and had a strong sense of justice; now the only thing left is a cold husk of a man whose only objective is revenge.
