Not too many communities can say they are as dedicated as the Smash community: Melee players have been running their game for over a decade now, with their player base also crossing over into Super Smash Bros. for Wii. U. This core stability keeps them going strong–on par with or surpassing many other games in tournaments all around the U.S.A.
Despite the current popularity, there was a point in time where Smash seemed like it wasn’t going anywhere, and its players were ready to move on. This point, in 2009, saw Smash players come together one last time to show love for their game, only to realize the game wasn’t nearly as dead as they thought.
