R. Mika’s Street Fighter V vortex game usually involves pushing her opponents into the corner, and keeping them there; but what happens when roles are reversed? Interestingly, the video from Habu Gaming below demonstrates that being trapped in the corner gives Mika an unexpected (albeit, small) advantage in the form of increased range for her Peach Assault Critical Art.
It seems that when her CA is activated, SFV adjusts the range and spacing while Mika’s back is against the wall, allowing the grab to land on an opponent that would normally be a bit too far away. More evidence that the corner is truly Rainbow Mika’s domain.
Off the back of the initial announcement of the latest 2GG Saga at Shine 2016 last weekend, 2GGaming have revealed another special guest who will be travelling all the way from Japan to compete within the hallowed halls of the Esports Arena. One of Japan’s best Sonics and arguably their best Cloud player, Komorikiri is coming to 2GGT: Abadango Saga to hopefully break his own limits and return to Japan with a US tournament victory under his belt.
A regular Sumabato winner, Komorikiri’s presence at Abadango Saga will provide ample warmup for the gathering of talent in Michigan for The Big House 6, where Komorikiri has actually won a golden ticket to by proving triumphant at the special Sumabato qualifier in Japan. With other big Japanese names coming to The Big House 6, we could see another grand clash of the hemispheres as we saw at this year’s Evo.
There is also going to be a special Mewtwo Round Robin side event at Abadango Saga, with other notable Mewtwo players like Rich Brown, pluto and potentially players like M^2 fighting to see who the best Mewtwo is. Reigning Capcom Cup champion GGP|Kazunoko has been primarily known for his intense Cammy play in Street Fighter V; however, that doesn’t mean that he isn’t trying out other characters. Lately, he’s been trying his hand at DLC character Juri.
In their latest online match showcase, XusesGB shines a spotlight on Kazunoko’s Juri. The matches in the video below showcase Kazunoko’s amazing pressure with her, as well as some scary frame traps and frustratingly effective corner control.
Much of what is written about fighting games in Korea zeroes in on Street Fighter and Tekken. It’s a natural proclivity to do so, given that Korea is a perennial powerhouse in Tekken, and there’s some guy that goes by the name of Infiltration who happens to be pretty decent in Street Fighter. The Korean Smash community is a bizarre one in the grand scheme of fighters in Korea. Comprised mainly of foreign expats living in Korea for work, it is a scene that is constantly facing a revolving door of players. Add to the fact that Nintendo abandoned the Korean console market after poor sales of the Wii, and this left Smashers wanting to play Super Smash Bros. for Wii U with no other choice but to either stick with Melee, or import a system and game. Further add to this mix of bad news upon bad news that people live further away, and in small apartments, and it is a recipe for disaster for anyone wanting to take Melee seriously in South Korea.
Enter ArcadeStream. Already one of the big names in Korea for competitive Street Fighter, owner Hyounoo “Drakefang” Sung reached out to the Smash community, and began hosting friendly sessions, as well as tournaments. While this doesn’t address all the issues that face the Korean Smash scene–such as the revolving door of players and lack of support by Nintendo–this has given the scene some semblance of permanence and community that was lacking before.
