Are You Ready For a Raw Smackdown? WhatCulture’s 10 Best Wrestling Games Ever!

Wrestling and the FGC have a peculiar relationship: wrestling games aren’t heavily featured at tournaments, but a large portion of the community has a lot of love for wrestling. We even have a few professional wrestlers in our community in Kenny Omega and Xavier Woods, making this connection even more pronounced.

Despite this connection, actual wrestling games themselves are hardly talked about. They aren’t traditional fighting games, but they do contain all the necessary elements of a fighting game. This more mainstream take on our favorite genre has a generally wider audience than most of our tournament games. The folks over at WhatCulture Wrestling have decided to compile their personal list of the 10 best wrestling games of all time; check it out in the video below.

Take the Poison of the Nguuhao in These Street Fighter V CFN Portal Site Profiles

During F.A.N.G’s Character Prologue in Street Fighter V, it’s mentioned that he was the leader of a large drug cartel, the Nguuhao, who had allied with Shadaloo, and under the guise of displaying their “vassalage” attempted to stage a coup against M. Bison–but underestimating the strength of his Psycho Power, as well as his immunity to their Poison Hand techniques, they were systematically exterminated, save for the “Cunning Trickster.” F.A.N.G immediately pledged loyalty to Shadaloo and become the organization’s new Fourth Heavenly King, replacing the long-departed Sagat in the overall hierarchy.

Now, the Shadaloo Activity Report and Private Nakagawa take a deeper look inside this once-powerful organization and its members.

Private Nakagawa: This time we speak of members of an organization active in the past throughout Asia, the Nguuhao. Are you asking me if they once came into our Shadaloo base? I wasn’t enrolled at that time yet, so I don’t know.

Nguuaho Soldier

Basic Info:

Name: Nguuhao Soldier (Nguuhao is Thai for “Cobra”)
Equipment: Uniform, Notepad
Duties: Info Gathering, Market Research, Various Negotiations
Techniques: Dokujakyaku (“Poisonous Snake Kick”)

T.A.I.L & T.U.S.K

Basic Info:

Name: (right) T.A.I.L (left) T.U.S.K
Equipment: Uniform
Duties: Assassination
Techniques: (right) Dokubenpatsujakōryū (“Poisonous Queue Evil Dragon Hair”) (left) Dokugiri Funsha (“Poison Spray”) [This is also the original name of what is known as the “Green Mist” seen in Professional Wrestling, used by the likes of Tajiri, The Great Muta, Seiya Sanada and The Great Kabuki!]

Private Nakagawa: It seems that, as a rule, the Nguuhao’s members can’t expose their true names. Moreover, they can’t reveal what sort of techniques they are learning.  It is said they all start by learning the basic usage of poison, until it has been tightly hammered into them, and then each member begins to hone his personal techniques. Speaking of which, we’ve also obtained these images.

F.A.N.G Story Costume

Private Nakagawa: Hmm, he resembles someone… Who could he be? He seems scary, doesn’t he?

That seems to be the extent of Shadaloo’s intel on the now-extinct Nguuhao. Hopefully, this provided some interesting insights for F.A.N.G players on the character’s past and origins. Do you have any thoughts on this dastardly organization? Would you like to see the deceased T.A.I.L and T.U.S.K be made playable, so we can receive a look at their own unique Poison Hand techniques? Let us know in the Comments! You can also check out the other 6 Yoga Masters you’ve just gotta meet at least once here.

Captain America: Civil War’s Correct Voice and Sound Effects Restored (from the Marvel vs. Capcom Games)

Captain America: Civil War, the most recent Hollywood thrill-ride in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, definitely served up all the intrigue and exciting action sequences one would expect from the brand. But while you watched the film, did you get the impression something was a bit… off? Everything looked great, but something wasn’t quite right…

Watching the video below, the answer is suddenly clear: the voices and sound effects were all wrong! YouTuber Frob Man has brought this terrible oversight to light, and restored the film’s action scenes with the true sound effects and voices–that is, those of the Marvel vs. Capcom series!

Thanks to Rafael for the tip!

Master of Orion Reviewed

I’ve been a 4X game fan almost as long as I’ve been a gamer. One of my fondest PC gaming memories is the many hours I spent with my brother clicking away and making decisions in Colonization from Sid Meier. I missed the boat on the original Master of Orion (MoO), but I played its sequels, and now years later and under a new developer, I’m very glad to have the chance to revisit the series thanks to the passion of Wargaming and NGD Studios.
