MVG Announces Frame Perfect Series 2 in Orlando, Florida from March 15-17, 2017

The tournament calendar for 2017 is starting to fill, as Most Valuable Gaming have announced that their tournament series Frame Perfect will be returning for round two from March 15th-17th. Attendees don’t need to worry about transport to and from the airport to play their matches, as Frame Perfect Series 2 is actually being held at Orlando International Airport. As long as you can sort a flight into Orlando, you’ll be good to go.

As there is a travel theme to this event, MVG are flying out ten players from outside of the US to compete in this event. So far, brothers Alliance|Armada and Android are confirmed for Super Smash Bros. Melee, while MKLeo and a whole host of Japanese players are coming for Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. This includes 2GG|komorikiri, Ranai, Kome, Kirihara, DNG|Kameme, Earth and Fuwa, with no doubt more to be announced in 2017.

The grandfather of the series, Super Smash Bros. 64 is also guaranteed a spot at Frame Perfect Series 2 and $3,500 has been guaranteed across all three games, with Melee and Smash 4 gaining an additional $2,500 if they exceed 256 entrants for either game.

Registration is now available over on smash.gg, with an early bird registration price of $25 lasting until January 2nd, where it will increase to $35 until March 4th.

Rising Up: Akuma Bread and Butter Combo Guide — Punishes, Confirm Combos, Juggles, & More

Akuma has just made his triumphant return to Street Fighter V, and new players everywhere are picking him up. I’ve done my best to compile the optimal combos for every common scenario, so you can stop worrying about damage optimization and focus on strategy. This video features anti-airs, punishes, confirms, counter-hit combos, crush counter combos, juggles, and more.

Consider this video a precursor to my upcoming full Akuma character tutorial. The combos are all my own labwork, alongside a few things I’ve observed from other players. I’m fairly confident that most of these combos are fully ideal, but Akuma’s combo avenues are extremely varied and I’m sure I’ve missed some optimizations somewhere. For both me and the other players, I ask that those viewers somewhat acquainted with Akuma point out anything I might have missed in the comments, so that I can amend it into the final video when it comes out. I’ve done my best to provide my part here.

I’m currently releasing full character tutorials every week on ShoryukenTube, the Shoryuken.com YouTube channel, as well as videos demonstrating season 2 changes every day. All guides from here on out will reflect season 2 changes, and I’ll soon amend all the guides that are already out. There’s a lot of content on the horizon, so you’ll want to subscribe to the channel!

Diablo 3 – 20 Years to be Celebrated in All Blizzard Games

With the arrival of the twentieth anniversary of Diablo on December 31st, Blizzard is pulling out all the stops across its many games. MOV, Takumi Sign Sponsorship Deals with Team GRAPHT

Big things are happening for Joe “MOV” Egami:. the longtime FGC mainstay has just signed a professional contract with Team GRAPHT.

GRAPHT, a Japanese company specializing in geek apparel, announced today that they had signed MOV, who finished in 5th place at both Evolution 2016 and Capcom Cup 2016. This will be a major move for Egami, who is already running a house dedicated to competitive fighting game practice in Japan.

Also being signed in the same move was Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 player Takumi, who has done well on the circuit with his play of Magneto/Wesker/Doctor Doom. With Marvel 3 in a plateau of sorts, one can think this may be forward-thinking to Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite.

Modders Bring Cyber Akuma into Street Fighter V for PC

Street Fighter V’s Akuma has been out for barely over a week and he already received extensive costume mods on the PC version of the game.

This new skin from monkeygigabuster bring us back to Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter where he appeared as the boss character Cyber Akuma, or Mech Gouki in Japan.  In that game, Apocalypse had turned Akuma into his servant, giving him cybernetic upgrades and an expanded moveset.

Sadly, this mod for the PC version doesn’t give him those powered-up moves. Rather, just like in Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, it’s simply an alternate costume, albeit a fan-made one this time.

Hero’s Song – Setting a Good Example of How Crowdfunding Should Work

John Smedley has sent out another note to backers of Hero’s Song with some details about when refunds for the now-cancelled game will begin and to once again thank the crowdfunding community for its support. Of particular note is his assertion that, while some backers want the company to keep the money for their hard work, it sets a good example of how crowdfunding should work for Pixelmage to return all money with the same good faith that backers demonstrated in the first place.
