Learn More about Kolin’s Past and Her Illuminati Powers in Street Fighter V

The Phantasm of Snow and Ice has many “chilling” abilities.

Kolin–formerly known under her General Story guise as Helen–has been revealed as the latest addition coming to Street Fighter V’s roster, on February 28th.

From Capcom-Unity:

After working in the shadows for Gill and the secret Illuminati organization, Kolin makes her Street Fighter V debut. First appearing in Street Fighter III, Kolin works behind the scenes in order to fulfill the Prophecy of Miraha and stop any who dare stand in Gill’s way. She is typically calm and collected, but can suddenly fly into a rage when anybody threatens Gill and his plans.

Kolin excels in the Russian martial art of Systema, utilizing the opponent’s momentum against them and executing various slash-like attacks and knife hand strikes. Gill has bestowed upon her the power of ice, allowing her to augment her fight style with frigid blasts and deadly icicles. She is often heard speaking condescendingly towards her opponents, knowing they don’t stand a chance before her, let alone Gill.

Where did her hatred of Shadaloo come from and how did she originally become involved with Gill? Be sure to check out her character story to find out!

So, what secret Illuminati abilities is she bringing into the battle?

V-Skill: Inside Slash

Kolin deflects an attack and automatically punishes it.

V-Trigger: Diamond Dust

Kolin sends out up to two blasts of ice along the ground with a stomp; this ice causes damage and also “freezes” the stun meter! If the opponent is stunned by the move, they become literally frozen instead of dizzied.

Critical Art: Frost Tower

If Kolin connects with her hand slash, the opponent is lifted into the air on a barrage of ice from below.

As revealed in her trailer, Kolin will become available with three additional costumes (Story mode, Battle costume, and Nostalgia costume):

Kolin_Story_Costume
Kolin_Battle_Costume
Kolin_Nostalgia_Costume

Kolin will be first playable at Lupe Fiasco’s release party for DROGAS Light on February 15th; the first 150 players will receive a free event T-shirt! Capcom-Unity also promises that we’ll be hearing about a new character every other month going forward, with other content-related updates in between–and that they are indeed planning some rebalancing since the Season 2 changes. Expect to hear more about another patch–in March.

BlazBlue: Central Fiction Appears on Steam Database

A Reddit user by the name of Danaiden_TP recently spotted something interesting: a Steam database website now lists the currently console-only BlazBlue: Central Fiction, the latest and possibly final entry in the fighting game franchise.

There’s nothing more known, other than that entry created several days ago. In a way, this is similar to finding a registered trademark of a title long before it’s announced. In this case, it’s not a big surprise that Central Fiction is listed, but there aren’t any release date hints from Arc System Works as of yet. However, this could point that a PC version of BBCF is coming sooner rather than later.

Judging by Arc System Works’ current strategy, the company is striving to bring its console and computer versions closer to parity, as seen by the recent port of Guilty Gear Xrd -REVELATOR-. While there aren’t many differences between console and PC versions of Guilty Gear–aside from expanded graphical options–users report a significantly better experience in PC Network Mode than on PlayStation Network. This very well could be the case with Central Fiction, though there is no GG cross-play between PC and PlayStation.

We’ll keep our eyes out for any more hints, and in the meantime, check out a Naoto combo video and some flashy BBCF clash movies.

We have our answer as to the next combatant in Street Fighter V’s roster.

After teasing, speculation and leaks, Capcom has finally officially revealed that the newest fighter for SFV Season 2 is indeed Kolin, the “Phantasm of Snow and Ice”: General Story mode schemer, and fellow member to Urien in Gill’s Secret Society. According to the trailer, she’s arriving as DLC on February 28.

Based on the trailer footage, it seems the mysterious Reddit leak was pretty much right on the money about her ice attacks and play style.
