Michael Martin Questions Whether You Need Top Tier to Win in I Got Next
Street Fighter V has seen a lot of rising and falling in stock lately. HyperX’s Daigo Umehara notably has had prior success with Ryu, struggled with him early in Season 2, began to rebuild with his aggressive play as of late, only to be destroyed by Echo Fox|Tokido 6-0 in the first round of Topanga League.
A lot of Ryu mains are starting to abandon ship, and Michael Martin himself appears to be on the fence about doing so. In I Got Next this week, he talks about this in detail, positing that with the struggles low tiers face in the highest level of competition, that it is almost a necessity to play high tier characters in order to come even remotely close to winning events.

She has no invincible reversal, but a variety of tools for mind games.
In the latest Street Fighter V Character Introduction Series clip, Capcom’s Matt Edwards walks us through a brief explanation of Kolin’s backstory (she first appeared as a background character in Street Fighter III, before her return to SFV’s Story mode), what frosty tools her V-System provides on the battlefield, and what sort of mindset is required to play her successfully.
