The Beefy Smash Doods Help You Stay Informed on the Latest Super Smash Bros. Events

The Smash community has become so wide-scale that it’s nearly impossible to keep up with it all. Between just the 2 main Smash titles there is a lot going on, sometimes you just need cliff notes just to stay informed. Now we have just that, in the form of “Smash News”: a relatively new series from the Beefy Smash Doods, focusing on catching players up with recent and upcoming happenings in the scene.

This episode briefly covers the Smash Summit voting, which has just begun, and covers how it’ll work overall. They also go over worldwide tournaments being held for Smash games, and where that $100,000 pot bonus is going. They also cover some other topics, such as player standings, newly sponsored players, and events to look out for.

Collectible Card Game Shadowverse to Feature Guest Street Fighter V Leaders

Well, this is a crossover that no-one was really expecting. As part of a partnership between Cygames and Capcom, seven characters from Street Fighter V will be appearing as special guest Leaders in the digital card game, Shadowverse. Shadowverse has earned a huge following in Japan, with it starting to put a decent dent in Western markets, and almost into rival games like Hearthstone. Why Street Fighter has been decided as a worthy crossover for a medieval fantasy card game, take your best guess!

The seven guest Leaders will be:

  • Cammy (Forestcraft)
  • Chun-Li (Swordcraft)
  • Juri (Runecraft)
  • Ryu (Dragoncraft)
  • M. Bison (Shadowcraft)
  • Vega (Bloodcraft)
  • Karin (Havencraft)

While Shadowverse is free to play, Cygames has stated that this Street Fighter V related content may require additional in-game purchases, so you may have to pop down some actual money if you want to play cards as Chun-Li. This SFV collaboration is set to launch sometime in Spring, so check regularly on the Shadowverse website for launch details. I wonder if we’ll see Daigo dipping his toe into the world of CCGs, now he can play as his beloved Ryu.

Take a Look at Kolin’s V-System in Street Fighter V with This Video Update from Capcom

Kolin is less than two weeks away from releasing into Street Fighter V’s ecosystem, intent on shaking up the tier lists–and there is still some speculation on how she will actually play in the game. Thankfully, Capcom has given us some confirmations on what she will look like within the system.

With their new tweet about Kolin, they showed a video showcasing what she can do with her V-System. Her V-Skill is confirmed to be an instant counter attack, much like Cammy and Fei-Long’s second Ultras in Street Fighter IV. Her V-Reversal works in a similar vein to Nash and Rashid’s, with it even being similar in range to Rashid’s. But the most telling is the video of her V-Trigger, which does indeed freeze the opponent, as well as their stun gauge.

Spiritwalk Games is launching a KickStarter campaign today to fund its forthcoming tactical CCG called Shardbound. The game seeks to bring a different slant to the typical CCG with the core game play element of 1v1 PvP. In addition, the game will come with an inherent focus on the ability of streamers to engage and interact with Twitch viewers.
