New Razer Panthera Firmware Update for PlayStation 4 Reduces Input Delay
Razer has released a new firmware update for their Panthera arcade stick for PlayStation 4. The firmware update is supposed to make the stick strike “faster, better and with greater accuracy” according to Razer.
The @Razer Panthera now strikes faster, better and with greater accuracy.

Based on the wording of the tweet, it seems that Razer is addressing the slight input delay that the Panthera was found to have when compared to other arcade sticks on the market. We asked Mark “MarkMan” Julio, who consulted with Razer on the Panthera, about this and he stated “Our internal testing has proven it’s vastly improved the response time or ‘perceived latency’ with the Panthera performance.” He also gave out specific numbers: with the new firmware having a response time of 1ms to 5ms (average of 3 ms) compared to 8ms to 12ms (average of 10ms) for the old firmware in their testing.
To try to verify if the new firmware does make the Panther faster, we ran a test, comparing it with the MadCatz Tournament Edition 2, wiring up the square buttons of both controllers to a single button.
As you can see with the testing above, the Razer Panthera with firmware v.1.01 does seems to be faster than the MadCatz TE2, which is the opposite result of our previous tests with the older firmware.
For any interested Razer Panthera owners, you can download the new firmware here.

Street Fighter V Servers Down Overnight for 8-Hour Maintenance (Not Including Current Login Issues)
What surprises (if any) will tomorrow morning bring to Street Fighter V?
Street Fighter V players hoping to get in some late-night fights will be stuck with the offline modes tonight, as Capcom is shutting down the SFV servers overnight–between 10:00 PM PST and 6:00 AM PST tomorrow morning–for maintenance.
We will perform server maintenance from 10pm on 3/7 to 6am on 3/8 PST. Thank you for your patience and support.
— SFV Server (@SFVServer) March 7, 2017
What service exactly is being performed in this maintenance window has not been clarified; Capcom has promised additional roster balancing and improvements to Street Fighter V’s online functions sometime in March, however with Final Round 20 coming up fast, it’s questionable that they would roll out major changes only a few days prior to the first Premier event of 2017’s Capcom Pro Tour. It is possible we may see Final Round’s signage added into the Ring of Destiny stage, though–and since Capcom snuck in some surprise rebalancing last week at Kolin’s launch, it’s likely there may be more unexpected changes to find on Wednesday morning.
However, the SFV servers have gone down ahead of schedule, but seemingly not intentionally:
We are sorry for the inconvenience. We are currently investigating why the server went down.

At this time, it is unclear if online services will be restored for the few hours left before the scheduled maintenance is set to begin.
