A History of Rights and Licensing: SSFF Takes a Look at Marvel vs. Capcom’s Convoluted Past
The history of the Marvel vs. Capcom series is one that is often defined by the on-again off-again relationship between Marvel and Capcom. The convoluted licensing deals that allow the games to be produced in the first place more often than not tend to define the direction of the series.
It’s through these deals that Stop Skeletons From Fighting frames this new video about the history of the Marvel vs. Capcom series. This includes how the series got its start with Marvel’s early licensing in the 1990’s, just as Capcom was trying to secure their dominance in the fighting game genre, to the first time licensing nearly stopped it, when Activision got the rights to the X-Men and Spiderman.
The video also covers more recent history, with Marvel’s parent company Disney’s attempt to break from licensing and produce their own games with Disney Infinity, as well as going over the–as of yet never explained–deal that allowed for Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Finally, it touches upon the upcoming Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite, and what the series’ past licensing history may mean for it.

Jaw-Dropping Jin Combos Freeze Foes in This BlazBlue: Central Fiction Combo Video
Jin Kisaragi–as one of the protagonists of BlazBlue: Central Fiction, and a balanced toolset character–remains an ever-popular choice. While he resembles a prototypical shoto character, his opponent-freezing Drive ability introduces creative reset opportunities and more combo routes than at first glance.
Jin’s balanced move set is completed with EX moves that cost 25 percent meter. Those not only freeze the opponent multiple times in the same sequence but also allow non-conventional pick-ups. There’s a lot of creative uses of normal attacks versus certain hurtboxes from characters like Valkenhayn and Relius. Furthermore, since Jin’s Distortion Drives don’t always close off the combos, there’s a few surprises in store to see. The combos in the video below definitely value style over substance, but that’s not bad at all, because the player, Zqxd, goes all out.
Check it out below, and if you want to see Jin in battle, view the sets that Fenrich’s Japan Esports League matches.
