Crouch-cancel your plans: There’s a Street Fighter Alpha 3 tournament from GAME a-cho to watch

Daigo Umehara has gone on record multiple times claiming that Street Fighter Alpha 3 is his favorite Street Fighter. GAME a-cho in Japan holds regular tournaments for the classic Capcom fighter, so if you don’t have an opinion yet, here’s two hours of high level play for your analysis.

V-ism pressure, air blocking, and air teching are just a few ticks on the long list of system mechanics that make playing Street Fighter Alpha 3 a very different experience from playing the core series. There’s infinites, too, thanks to crouch-canceling. This is a technique that lets you remove recovery frames on jumping to extend juggles, and it’ll likely either increase your interest in the game, or sour your opinion of it all together. If your not sure what it looks like, trust me–watch the video and you’ll figure out what it is.

One thing is for sure- crouch-canceling hasn’t slowed the game’s popularity down among Japanese players at all.

Capcom announces M. Bison’s classic Thailand stage & new costumes for Street Fighter V at WonderCon

Another classic stage is almost here (finally!), along with three new Premium outfits.

Amidst the madness of April Fool’s Day, Capcom held their Street Fighter panel at WonderCon 2017 yesterday; it was confirmed that the long-awaited Street Fighter II Thailand stage that was first announced months ago (M. Bison’s, not Sagat’s!), is bound for Street Fighter V at the end of April.

The photo below from WonderCon (and the feature image above) show some of the stage and its details, though these are work-in-progress images.

Those that visited the CFN Portal site on April Fool’s Day got to see a new “Street Fighter Academy” quiz minigame, which featured new outfits for Chun-Li, Ryu, and Juri as different anime school character archetypes. It was also revealed at WonderCon that these costumes are indeed coming to Street Fighter V as future DLC, but no release date has been indicated yet.

Jazzy Hyper DragonBall Z CMV showcases latest completed character, Piccolo

Fan projects can take many shapes, from simple fan art to complex fan games. MUGEN is one program that helps fans fulfill their dreams, allowing them to make their own characters, backgrounds, and systems in one neat package. While MUGEN is far from perfect, it has allowed several projects that may have never existed without its accessible setup.

One such project is Hyper DragonBall Z. The folks working on this game have been doing so for a few years now, and have several original characters and an original soundtrack to their name. The latest character they’ve put together is Piccolo, who happened to be declared character of the year on the Mugen Fighters Guild forum. Below is a short CMV put together to show off a bit of the game and Piccolo. Enjoy!
