Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announces GameStop Hometown Heroes circuit for Injustice 2
Last week, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announced a partnership with GameStop to introduce the GameStop Hometown Heroes tournament circuit for Injustice 2. Operated by ESL, previous host organization of the MKX Pro League, the esports program will allow players from eight regions across the United States to compete for cash prizes and bragging rights.
Open online qualifiers begin on June 4th, with the top 8 matches being broadcast live. After ten weeks of play, eight Regional Finals will take place on August 12th at local GameStop retail locations, where the top 4 players of each region fight for the title of Regional Champion. Everything leads up to the GameStop Hometown Heroes Finals at the GameStop Managers Expo in Las Vegas, Nevada on August 27th.
The eight regions eligible for competition are as follows:
- Chicago
- Dallas
- Seattle
- San Francisco
- Los Angeles
- Atlanta
- Miami
- New York City
This is certainly a great opportunity for some fresh faces to make an impact, with this new game on the horizon–and ensures Injustice 2 kicks off with a wild summer of competition.
