Mikado Arcade’s Street Fighter Carnival 9 continues with Street Fighter EX 2, King of Fighters 98′ Tournaments

World Famous Mikado Arcade’s month long tournament series Street Fighter Carnival 9 marches on! Recently the Mikado patrons paid a visit to Capcom (And Arika’s!) Street Fighter EX2. While there’s no doubt in my mind that Mikado would play this game anyways, it’s interesting to analyze it now that Arika has their own spin on the series in the works.

You may remember from SSFC2016’s King of Fighters 98′ tournament that there was an excellent Brian/Lucky player cleaning house. Well, he’s back, and his Sports team is as fun to watch play as he was before. I wonder what sort of pop Lucky/Heavy/Battler would get as DLC in King of Fighters XIV…

Top Injustice 2 players discuss a variety of topics in Yahoo! Esports’ “FGC Candid”

With Injustice 2 being the fourth fighting game under NetherRealm Studios’ belt in seven years, the ever-growing scene’s top players have had plenty of things to say about how the latest DC brawler compares to previous entries in the franchise. The Combo Breaker top 8, which included players like Echo Fox|Sonic Fox, Noble|Dragon, Circa|Forever King and NASR|Tekken Master, sat down with Yahoo Esports for the initial episode of “FGC Candid,” a roundtable discussion on a variety of topics related to the new game. 

They issue a stern warning to any Capcom players who think they’ll have an easy ride when joining the Injustice 2 Pro Series, the ‘NRS cycle’ of game releases, as well as offering tips to newer players looking to enter the scene. It’s an enlightening discussion from the panel, providing a unique look at all eight of these strong players. You can see the full video below.

Nintendo’s competitor lineup for its E3 ARMS and Pokkén DX tournaments includes Alex Valle, Justin Wong, Kayane, and more

The brand new Twitter account NintendoVS seems to be setup as Nintendo’s esports hub, and it’s been christened with a smattering of press releases for their E3 invitational tournaments.

For the appendage flinging ARMS, four FGC specialists will compete against four competitors who have triumphed in the open invitational events.

The invitees are:

  • Alex “Calipower” Valle, Mr. Street Fighter himself
  • Kelsy “SuperGirlKels” Medeiros, Canadian Smash 4 Sonic player
  • Daniel “Tafokints” Lee, host of Yahoo! Esports’ Melee Science and coach of C9|Mango
  • Marie-Laure “Kayane” Norindr, legendary Soul Calibur player

The open format could result in a E3 attendee taking home the crown, particularly since the requirement to compete first forces them through a trail by fire. Can the FGC pros win on fundamentals alone?

The Pokkén DX Invitational is a closed 4v4 crew battle with a mixture of FGC figures and YouTube personalities.

  • Matthew “MatPat” Patrick, host of Game Theory
  • Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada, pro Smash 4 player and rank 3 on the Panda Global Rankings
  • J.D. Witherspoon, comedian
  • Allister “Allister” Singh, Pokkén pro
  • Justin Wong, legendary Marvel and Street Fighter player
  • Ken “LiquidKen” Hoang, the original King of Smash
  • Andre Medaows, YouTube personality
  • Stephanie Patrick, co-host of GT Live

With Allister being the event’s only actual Pokkén player, it’s fairly easy to predict which team will win… unless they are handicapped by picking a new character. Pokkén’s rule set dictates that one member from each team must pick one of the 5 new DX characters: Darkrai, Decidueye, Empoleon, Croagunk, or Scizor.

Learn Street Fighter V’s Ed from the ground up with this beginner’s guide and some Psycho Cannon mixups

Ready to join the Young Commander as he rises to power?

Street Fighter V’s latest roster addition, Ed, is one of the most unusual simply because of how his moves are executed — all of his special moves (except his Critical Art) are performed through button press combinations only, no motion commands. While this can be viewed as making him attractive to beginners, it can also prove challenging for some seasoned players to adjust to.

The video below is a good place to start if you’re interested in learning Ed — either as a total beginner, or as a more-experienced player looking for some grounding in his new control scheme.

Once you get the basics under your belt, vary your game with these Psycho Cannon mixups, including uses for the V-Trigger projectile at various speeds:

Capcom Pro Tour Online 2017 Europe Ranking Event 2 streaming live

Europe’s second of four Capcom Pro Tour Online events is happening this Saturday. Today’s event (as well as the upcoming fourth event) is open to players of Eastern Europe: Latvia, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Finland, Romania, Lithuania, Slovakia, Hungary, Poland, Russia, Estonia, Ukraine and Greece.
