Breakaway – Rawlins the Gunslinger Given a Visual Update

The Breakaway site has a fun article for a Friday morning. In it, the team gives a brief overview of the visual redesign of Rawlins the Gunslinger, one of the game’s warriors. The team wanted to bring his game play style in line with his visual style. To do so, Rawlins went through a number of visual iterations to give him an edgier “hey I was executed by firing squad” sort of look.

Elite: Dangerous – Tencent Snaps Up 9% of Frontier Developments

GamesIndustry.biz is reporting that Chinese gaming giant, Tencent, has acquired a 9% stake of Frontier Developments. The deal is worth approximately $23M and is being used to “augment existing cash reserves”. According to Frontier, the funds will be invested in personnel and in its portfolio that includes Elite: Dangerous and Roller Coaster Tycoon.

Project Genom – Players Invited to PTS to Test Out Technical Alpha

Today is a big day for the Project Genom team with the launch of the game’s Public Test Server. It provides players an opportunity to try out the earliest version of the technical alpha, the most recent game version that brings a number of changes to current systems as well as updates to a wide variety of new systems. The forum post has detailed instructions on how to register for the PTS as well as the features they can expect to find once in game.

Luke Campbell to challenge Jorge Linares on September 23 in the US

Three-weight world champion Jorge Linares (42-3, 27 KOs) will defend his WBA lightweight title against British challenger Luke Campbell (17-1, 14 KOs) on September 23 at the Forum in Los Angeles, USA.
Linares, 31, will also put his WBC Diamond and Ring Magazine belts on the line when he meets 2012 Olympic gold medallist Campbell, 29, who has racked up five victories since a points defeat to Yvan Mendy in 2015, stopping all of his last three opponents.
