Genesis 5 moves the legendary Super Smash Bros. tournament from San Jose to Oakland
While the majority of the FGC was enraptured by the action going on at Evo, another esteemed tournament series revealed details on its next installment. Moving from its usual spot in San Jose, Genesis 5 will take place in Oakland, California, running from January 19th-21st 2018.
Taking place at the Oakland Convention Center for Friday and Saturday, Genesis 5 finals will then move to the Paramount Theater to finish off proceedings. Similar to last year, Genesis 5 will be hosting tournaments for:
- Super Smash Bros. 64
- Super Smash Bros. Melee
- Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
- Rivals of Aether
The Genesis team are planning to announce more side events in the future, so expect potential tournaments for Street Fighter V, Catherine and maybe even Icons: Combat Arena. World of Warcraft – Russell Brower Leaving Blizzard After 12 Years
Senior Audio Director and Composer Russell Brower is leaving Blizzard Entertainment after 12 years with the company. From his statement on Facebook, Brower’s position was eliminated after a process of “sound de-centralization”. “[M]y current position…is no longer relevant and is being eliminated”, Brower wrote.
