Lola Pop and control customization coming to ARMS today as part of the version 3 update

A new fighter and new ways to play arrive today.

Today’s Nintendo Direct news stream didn’t contain any big revelations for the fighting game community (i.e. Smash remains MIA on Switch), but it did confirm that clowny newcomer Lola Pop, along with her new unique attacks, will be joining the roster for ARMS on the Nintendo Switch today.

Along with Lola, today’s version 3 update will also implement the game’s recently-promised control customization features, allowing some freedom in your control schemes for the stretchy fighter. Watch for this content to arrive later today, now that the Nintendo Direct stream has finished.

Tempo Storm’s Axe and S2J discuss the unique format of Red Bull’s “Gods and Gatekeepers” tournament

Red Bull’s “Gods and Gatekeepers” Super Smash Bros. Melee tournament was one of the most unusually-structured events the Smash scene has seen. Put as simply as possible, the event was comprised of three tournaments: A “qualifying” tournament, a crew battle comprised of selected top players from the qualifying tournament, and a “Forsaken” bracket made up of those not picked for the Crew Battle.

Tempo Storm pros Jeffrey “Axe” Williamson and Johnny “S2J” Kim gave their behind-the-scenes thoughts on the structure of the event, reflecting on the nature of performance and entertainment within fighting game tournaments like Gods and Gatekeepers.

Put enemies to sleep with this Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 Bedman tutorial

Guilty Gear Xrd REV 2 is full of zany characters, but Bedman probably trumps a lot of them in that regard. Attached to a nightmarish bed, the sleeping character unnerving to look at. What’s scarier, though, are his mix-ups and pressure.

This new tutorial from Sharizord is a great way to either pick up the character, or to learn more about him in detail. As Sharizord explains, Bedman excels in neutral and in okizeme. By using the PC version’s hitbox viewer, you can see the exact hurtboxes for all the normal attacks. Sharizord also gives tips on the strengths of each normal attack. The case is similar with special moves and Overdrive attacks.

Next, the video covers movement and throwing, extremely important aspects in good Bedman play. Lastly, the tutorial explains the Deja Vu mechanic and shows some oki examples. Tune in below.

Adventure Quest 3D – Artix Details the Harrowing Journey Through Hurricane Irma

AdventureQuest 3D is a multiplatform MMO being built by the amazing team at Artix Studios in Land o’Lakes, Florida (near Tampa), the state most recently slammed by what’s been called the most devastating hurricane in recorded history. “Artix Krieger” has taken to the game’s page to detail how he and his team dealt with the events before, during and after Irma slammed into the state. It’s a harrowing tale, though one with an ultimately happy ending.
