Daigo Umehara and Armada discuss the perils of being a character specialist

Hx.Twitch.CYG BST|Daigo Umehara is known for his patented Ryu play across all Street Fighter titles. But what few may actually know is the first time the legend set his hand to a stick, he actually played E. Honda, with no success. What people also don’t realize is how much trepidation went into his switch from Ryu to Guile in Street Fighter V, with him saying, “I agonized over it for months and months.”

That is the mentality of most people who specialize in a character, as theScore reports, which discusses the character loyalty employed by Umehara, Echo Fox|Tokido, and Alliance’s Armada. Whereas some players, such as Peach specialist Armada in Super Smash Bros. Melee, state that characters “for me they’re more… I’m not sure if I want to say ‘tools’ because that sounds so impersonal in way (laughs), but I enjoy their character traits,” Umehara feels the character in a more intrinsic way. Says Umehara, “I am attached to him, and I feel motivated to conquer any difficulties I face when I play with him. Giving up is not a thought that comes to my mind.”

War Thunder – Update 1.71 Ushers in ‘New E.r.a.’

War Thunder has been updated with v1.71 “New E.r.a.” that opens a new Rank VI for modern ground vehicles. Nearly forty new tanks and aircraft have been added as well as new locations and brand new features. Most notably, players will be able to take the gunner position in aircraft and play in first person mode.

– MMOFPS Pantropy Brings Sci-Fi Battle-Mechs & RPG Elements

Pantropy is an upcoming MMOFPS taking place in a hostile alien world. The competition is for the resources of worlds to be colonized through a new wormhole technology in the year 2100. The game is set to hit Steam alpha access in late 2017 with the full release scheduled for sometime in 2018. Alpha servers will be limited to 64 players on a 64km x 65km map. Platforms include PS4, XBox One and PC.

NosTale – Gameforge Launches Anime MMO on Steam

Gameforge has sent word that it has launched NosTale on Steam. The anime-inspired MMO is now available to US players and comes complete with three classes and 28 specializations. There is also an extensive pet system for those who like to capture and collect critters as well as a “gripping storyline” across six acts.

The Crew 2 – PAX West 2017 – Hands On Video Preview

Ubisoft is doubling down on their open-world racer series with the upcoming launch of The Crew 2. Players will be able to roam the streets, but the skies and waterways as well.
