Square Enix’s latest arena fighter, Dissidia Final Fantasy NT, just recently came off of a new character reveal with its returning villain, Ultimecia. While the time-compression sorceress was likely a shoe-in all along, it was still a blow to a vocal contingent waiting and cheering for the addition of Final Fantasy XV‘s lead protagonist, Noctis.
There have been rumors (and according to Destructoid, leaks by Amazon) that Noctis was going to be added the game’s roster for some time now, but nothing had been officially confirmed. Until today, that is — as Square Enix revealed the the weapon-warping hero at the trailing end of the Tokyo Game Show trailer:
“A new ally, I see.” Noctis’s reveal comes just under four months shy of Dissidia’s planned January 11th, 2018 release date for the PS4 in Japan (and on the 30th worldwide). Are you satisfied with the roster as it is, or are you hoping Square squeezes one more surprise character in before launch?
Revealed back in August, the latest trailer for ARIKA’s “Mysterious Fighting Game” shows the all-American karate master Allen Snider in action. His appearance in the trailer is only short, but it has him using his trademark Fire Force and Triple Break Supers.
With ARIKA being present at Tokyo Games Show, expect more information about this mysterious fighter from those attending the show. Hopefully, Allen is fully playable so attendees can get to grips with the high-kicking hero. Seeing as the beta for this fighter is scheduled for later this year, be prepared for potential news on when this beta test will be taking place to possibly be revealed during the Tokyo Games Show.

No doubt the result of that leaked esports video from earlier this year, Capcom have revealed their plans for the first Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite tournament series. Named “Battle for the Stones,” it sees seven Evo champions facing off against nine new challengers to become the master of the Infinity Stones.
Six of these competitors will be champions from select offline tournaments, with the other three coming from special online qualifiers. The winner of each offline event will gain an Infinity Stone and a place in the final 16-man bracket, where they will be paired against either a former Evo champion or the victor of an online qualifier. The seven Evo champions are:
Jay “Viscant” Snyder – Evo 2011 champion
Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez – Evo 2012 champion
Job “Flocker” Figueroa – Evo 2013 champion
Justin Wong – Evo 2014 champion
Nick “KaneBlueRiver” Gonzalez – Evo 2015 champion
Chris “ChrisG” Gonzalez – Evo 2016 champion
Ryan “RyanLV” Romero – Evo 2017 champion
There is a twist though — each Infinity Stone has a power that actually changes the rules of the tournament. An Infinity Stone holder is allowed to activate their Stone once, altering the rules to give them an advantage. At this point in time, we don’t know what each stone does, but their use will be revealed at their corresponding event. Here are the six Infinity Stone tournaments:
SoCal Regionals – Space Stone
Canada Cup – Mind Stone
South East Asia Major – Time Stone
Milan Games Week – Soul Stone
Latin America Finals – Reality Stone
Red Bull Proving Grounds – Power Stone
Should you lose a match in the final Battle for the Stones bracket, you give your Stone to your opponent to use. This means that Grand Finals will see the last two combatants counter-picking Stones both in and outside of the game. It’s certainly a novel idea, and I hope Capcom have fun with the power of each Stone. I’d love for the Reality Stone to see players fight it out in an old Marvel game, for example.
The final Battle for the Stones bracket will take place at the Hilton Anaheim from December 8th-10th — the same time as the PlayStation Experience and Capcom Cup 2017. Blizzard has posted a brief note to let Heroes of the Storm players know that a new round of account suspensions has been issued specifically targeting AFKers and other “non-participants”. Players who have repeatedly and purposely died throughout cooperative matches have also been suspended. According to devs, “these actions were targeted at players whose in-game performance data, combined with high report volume, clearly shows a consistent lack of contribution”.

The Revenant class has arrived, a brutal combatant that isn’t afraid to wade into the midst of combat to take out all enemies. Revenants use 2-handed axes and have the ability to “siphone the life right out of their victims” as well as the ability to fight multiple opponents simultaneously.
