Mikado Arcade’s “Super Street Fighter Carnival 2017” continues with Samurai Shodown 2, Art of Fighting 3
“Super Street Fighter Carnival 2017” is the regularly occurring tournament series of Japan’s famous Mikado Arcade, featuring a revolving selection of arcade titles for its patrons to compete in. A number of games have already been played for this tournament season, which you can check out here.
Let’s catch up with this one-of-a-kind event! The most recent tournaments over at Mikado are Samurai Shodown 2, one of the most beloved tournament-worthy entries in the series…
…And Art of Fighting 3, a game with a slightly more polarizing reputation.
To give some context for this particular AOF3 event: there’s an Easter egg in this game where each character gets access to their Desperation Move at full health only on their birthday. (Otherwise, desperation moves are available at 1/4th health). Wyler is the (believe it or not, completely un-throwable) boss character of AOF 3, and is universally considered top tier. So knowing all this, it’s particularly cruel to run a tournament for this game on October 22nd: his canonical birthday.
You can preview this seasons’ games and player scores with Mikado’s public Drive document, provided you know Japanese or are fluent in Google Translate. You can also follow the action by subscribing to Mikado’s official YouTube channel, or try to catch the action in real time when they livestream.

Blow up the competition with this beginner’s guide for Tekken 7’s Bryan
Despite being a popular character, Bryan doesn’t tend to show up as often in tournament play as you might expect. Though this character has a incredibly high damage output and a solid keep-out game, he struggles on defense and requires very high execution. These truths ultimately regulate him to only the most dedicated players.
Is that you? If you love Tekken 7‘s most brutal cyborg and want to take him far, Scallywag 93‘s latest guide breaks down the character’s moveset and fundamentals. Anyone willing to learn Bryan — veteran or beginner — should find some valuable insight here.
