Canada Cup 2017 was arguably one of the most important stops on the 2017 Capcom Pro Tour. As the last open-bracket major — and one of the most stacked — you could obtain CPT points in, the future of many players’ survival on the CPT leaderboards was at stake.

That’s the context of many of Capcom Fighters‘s favorite moments- the triumph of securing a spot that seemed just out of reach moments ago, as was captured in 801 Strider’s victory over Moke. Contrasting that, there was Korean legend Poongko falling just short of defeating Norway’s Phenom, ensuring he wouldn’t survive top 32 at Canada Cup, and ending his CPT dreams.

The transition of fighting games to modern 3D engines on PC has opened the door to all kinds of mods for these games; some of the most interesting are those that change how the game looks through the manipulation of an engine’s lighting and shaders.

This next set of mods from nded may be some of the most striking yet. Using the popular graphics modding program ReShade, nded has made both Street Fighter V and Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite look as if they were drawn with pencil and ink on someone’s notebook.

The graphical mod, which you can see in the videos below, is far from perfect – certain effects such as hitsparks, interfaces — and in Street Fighter V‘s case, projectile moves — aren’t visible with the mod. That said, the fact that both games run on an engine (Unreal Engine 4) that other fighting games use opens the door to those fighting games getting similar mods in the future.
