With Dissidia Final Fantasy NT out on consoles now in Japan, people who are in that country — or pre-ordered the Japanese version — already have their hands on the game, and are concocting new combos for the game.
While these combos for Lightning, Jecht, and Squall only take into account 1-on-1 play, they are still impressive. In particular, Lighting shows an impressive range of set-ups, as she can use projectiles to give her time to close the gap on the opponent before using melee attacks.
As the result of a rather one-sided Twitter contest, Rivals of Aether and Brawlhalla have created special “crossover” character skins to appear in the opposing game. For Rivals of Aether, the draconic brawler Ragnir is guest-starring via a special Maypul skin while in Brawlhalla, the poisonous pacifist Ranno is joining the fight as a skin for Wu Shang.
The Ragnir skin radically changes Maypul’s animations, swapping plant-based attacks for jets and whips of flame. Her friendly plant assistant is gone too, replaced with Brawlhalla‘s trademark flaming weapon pickups. As for Wu Shang, his attack animations aren’t much different, but his weapons are now made out of Ranno’s poisonous secretions.
I hope this fun crossover fosters more cooperation between the burgeoning platform fighter scene, with more characters appearing as guests or special skins in other games. Let’s hope this contest sees games like Icons: Combat Arena, Brawlout and Earth Romancer experimenting with guest character skins.
The latest Pantheon: Rise of the Fallen newsletter has been published. It begins with a retrospective review of 2017 and then moves on to a first-look post about harvesting and how it will play out in the game.
To say that the Overwatch League is off to a great start is to underestimate the numbers that have been announced. Over the course of the first week of professional Overwatch action, over 10 million folks around the world watched matches. The highest concurrent number of viewers was nearly 500,000.
The Elder Scrolls Online site has been updated with a preview of one of the two new dungeons that will ship with the Dragon Bones DLC. The location is called Scalecaller Peaks and it is an area infested with fanatical cultists led by a resurrected Dragon Priest. Their goal is to “cleanse Tamriel with a devastating plague”.
Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is here at last! A whole new arsenal of V-Triggers make up the bulk of the content coming in. Perhaps unsurprising, as these new options offer new damage opportunities and pressure options for many characters, some of which desperately needed some love after Season 2.
World Warrior FGC is making use of Ryu’s new Donkey Kick to blow-up three-frame meaties:
UM Tyrant shows off a basic VTII Crossup Ice setup for Kolin.
Only time will tell which V-Trigger ends up being better for Ibuki, but @mohumohukedama already has some disgusting lockdown tech with the VT2 boomerang.
KaZey77 shows off some of Ken’s new damage potential with his new Shinryuken V-Trigger:
Those wanting a stronger Chun-Li in SFV will be happy to know that, via Thorasskicker, her guard-breaking Kikosho cannot be V-Reversed.
You likely already know this, but in Season 3 (and ElChakotay‘s latest video) don’t get too attached to your health bar when fighting R. Mika.
Ed’s debut toolkit was marred by some unfortunate hitbox and range issues. While some of these still remain, GLHFtv believes that Ed’s new “Enhanced Snatcher” V-Trigger fills in the gaps.
user/MaliciousRean on reddit is loving Kolin’s new Crush Counter damage output.
And last but not least, here’s a nice quarter-life conversion from an air-to-air with Ryu, thanks to F.K.O.
