Gather the Dragon Balls with Maximilian’s guide to the Shenron system in Dragon Ball FighterZ

Taking a brief break from his full roster character breakdowns, this video from Maximilian tackles one of the more mysterious and controversial mechanics in the upcoming Dragon Ball FighterZ, the Shenron system.

As we’ve reported previously, this mechanic involves both players collecting all seven of the Dragon Balls by performing various combos on their opponents, which will then ignite a race between both teams to summon Shenron and gain possession of the wish he will bestow upon the successful trio, with four options, such as reviving fallen teammates, gaining an additional Sparking Blast, recovering your team’s blue health, and fully healing your point character.

During the game’s open beta test (and its battle tutorials), Maximilian was able to fully show off how the Balls are collected, as well as successfully summoning the Eternal Dragon for a wish. It’s now confirmed that the Balls are gained by either player successfully finishing a full Light Auto Combo. Once all seven Balls are gathered from seven complete auto combos, the first player to land an eighth full light auto combo — while they have a full seven-bar Ki gauge — will earn the rights to the wish. (We also get a glimpse at some new alternate colors for Future Trunks and Tien, which sees his current Dragon Ball Super attire adorned with his classic Crane School colors from the original Dragon Ball, an awesome throwback for longtime fans of the character.)

Dragon Ball FighterZ will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Steam outside of Japan on Friday, January 26th, with a release for the Land of the Rising Sun following on the same platforms on Thursday, February 1st.

Prepare for Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition with this new launch trailer

It’s been a long wait, but the day is finally upon us: Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is now available, ready to usher in a new era for Capcom’s signature fighting game as it enters its third season of content. In a two-minute trailer (F.A.N.G would be proud) we see the character select screens for all six courses of the titular Arcade Mode, Urien, and the Mad Gear Gang’s Two P. furiously try to break barrels together in the new Bonus Stage, and we get a glimpse of some of the 200+ unlockable endings and illustrations, courtesy of UDON Entertainment.

The new Team and Extra Battle Modes are also briefly shown off, as Guile battles Shin Akuma, while Ed faces off with Viewtiful Rashid — the first Extra Battle Crossover Costume — that will be this month’s reward for finishing all four of the Extra Battle challenges.

Finally, the new V-Triggers IIs take the spotlight to close things out. You can see the full trailer for yourself, and get in on the hype below:

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition is available now for PlayStation 4 and Steam, as both a free update for existing SFV owners, as well as a retail release that includes download codes for the 2016 and 2017 character passes, providing you with all 12 previously released DLC characters as well as various pre-order costumes.

Get better acquainted with Sakura via her Street Fighter V character introduction

Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition has finally arrived, meaning Sakura the Exuberant Youth is ready to battle. Having graduated from high school and gained a new outlook on life, the Sakura playable in SFV:AE is a little different to her previous incarnations. To help players get up to speed with Ryu’s number one fan, Capcom Fighters have just released Sakura’s character introduction trailer.

Sakura’s V-Skill is a command jump, which can lead into a divekick, command grab or her trademark triple smash juggle. Her V-Trigger I focuses energy into her fists, powering up her fireballs and giving her access to a powerful palm thrust move. Her V-Trigger II beefs up her Shouoken and Shunpukyaku, granting her extra damage and increased combo potential.
