Adel “Big Bird” Anouche is the latest Street Fighter V player to join Red Bull’s Athlete program

Joining the likes of Luffy, Bonchan, Daigo Umehara, and Snake Eyez, Adel “Big Bird” Anouche is the latest Street Fighter V player to be signed to Red Bull’s Athlete program. One of the UAE’s top players, Big Bird had a fantastic 2017, placing the top 8 of events like EGX, DreamHack Summer, Tower of Pride, and Esports Festival Hong Kong, along with making it to Capcom Cup 2017.

Combined with his pre-existing sponsorship by Nasr Esports, this Red Bull partnership puts Big Bird in a fantastic starting position to make 2018 his best year yet. With Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition on the horizon and potentially some buffs for his hot-headed main Ken, expect to see Big Bird lighting up the stage at more international tournaments.

Sea of Thieves – Closed Beta to Set Sail on January 24th

The first official Sea of Thieves closed beta test is ready to take to the high seas. The event will begin on January 24th and run through January 29th. The CBT will offer players a “bespoke experience” for a complete picture of the game. Anyone who joined the Sea of Thieves Insider Programme prior to December 1, 2017 will be eligible for CBT as well as anyone who preordered the game.

Dragon Ball voice actors have thrown down the gauntlet to settle who’s number one in Dragon Ball FighterZ

Prepare for the battle of voice acting gods

What began as excitement for the most recent Dragon Ball Super episode on Toonami has now become a full-fledged war between two of voice acting’s giants. Following a long line of comebacks, the gloves are finally coming off. The rematch fans have been waiting for since a spunky prince had an M on his forehead and a battle driven hero had a halo, is finally going down.

Christopher Sabat, perhaps best known for his performance as the Prince of all Saiyans, Vegeta, has challenged fellow actor Sean Schemmel, the voice behind Goku, to throw down in Dragon Ball FighterZ. The battle has the blessing of both Bandai Namco and Funimation, so this bout is bound to be a spectacle to see.

At the time of writing this article, no location or date has been set for the epic showdown. All we can do now is sit back and wait and speculate the prospective matchup. Will Schemmel run an all Goku team with Goku, Goku (Super Saiyan Blue), and Goku Black (Super Saiyan Rosé)? And what team will Sabat combat with? He’s got Vegeta and Vegeta (Super Saiyan Blue). Will he complete his triad with other Sabat staples, like Piccolo or Lord Yamcha? One thing is for sure, the victor of this upcoming dream match-up will have bragging rights for the eons to come.

Don’t miss these closer looks at what Sakura can do in Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition!

Sakura has almost caught up to Ryu in Street Fighter V, arriving alongside Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition next week. To keep the hype rolling, Capcom has not one, but two livestreams running today to give us a closer look at the Exuberant Youth.

Today’s WinnerStaysOn session with Capcom UK will provide us a demonstration of Sakura gameplay — featuring Problem X and Tyrant — and provide a look at more of the new V-Triggers as well. You can see it on the Capcom Fighters Twitch channel at 12:30 PM PT.

But that’s not all — Capcom-Unity will also run a stream on their Twitch channel at 3:00 PM PT to showcase the same range of content:

Microsoft are holding a second Killer Classic event this weekend

After the success of the first Killer Classic, Microsoft have decided to hold another two-day Killer Instinct tournament this weekend at their flagship store in New York City. With a bolstered prize pool, expect some intense KI action as players from New York and beyond battle it out.

Rather than just offering a prize for the winner, the second Killer Classic offers some rewards for the second and third place players. First place gets an Xbox One X and $200, second place gets a custom Killer Instinct arcade stick and $200, while third place gets $100 and several Ultimate Source KI figurines.

With only 16 slots, the bracket is now full — containing players like ELV|Rico Suave, UA|Bass, Circa|Aphex, Circa|Shatter and many more. If the Killer Classic is set to become a regular event, I would like to see Microsoft expand to a 32-person bracket, so more KI players can compete.

For those wanting to tune into the Killer Classic, all the action will be streamed live via the official Microsoft Store Mixer channel.
