Chun-Li has long been the bane of many people’s existence in Super Street Fighter II Turbo. While Guile can counter some of her impeccable air game, there some ranges that Chun can jump in at and neutralize him if you aren’t aware of what to do.

Most players default to committing to Flash Kick, which works in some scenarios but can be beaten clean or forced to whiff in others. This video guide — created by Golcarjack and Nothingness — mostly covers her air options, which are the most difficult to deal with as a Guile player.

Swords of destiny clash in these epic Dissida: Final Fantasy NT commercials from Square Enix

Time is quickly marching towards the January 30th, 2018 release date of Dissida: Final Fantasy NT! Continuing their effort to garner hype for their highly-anticipated crossover fighter, Square Enix have dropped two epic commercials for it, and you can view both of the action-packed TV spots below.

If you can’t wait until January 30th to jump into the fantastic fray, you can get in on the open beta, which will be held between January 12th and January 21st in America and in Europe. Ryu main pdcsky has given himself the massive task of documenting Ryu’s optimal punishes and responses for every single match-up in Street Fighter V. It takes a real level of dedication to do this in video form, particularly for a character many in the community walked away from in Season 2.

He’s just finished the entirety of this ambitious series for Season 2 and combined it into a single, easy to digest playlist. This is an excellent start for rookie players who want to learn how frame data works, and as a study guide for veterans.

Legendary SC player Hayate breaks down SoulCalibur VI’s new mechanics

French SoulCalibur player Hayate is one of the Calibur community’s living legends, likely best known for his sweep of Team Belgium with bottom tier Yunsung in SoulCalibur II. Appropriately, Bandai Namco has invited Hayate to try out the latest iteration of the series, SoulCalibur VI. You can see his analysis of the mechanics in SCVI in his latest video.

There are some bombshell confirmations here, such as chip damage being incorporated into the redesigned “Soul Charge” mechanic, and a detailed breakdown of how the new “Reversal Edge” system works. Hayate will be gathering questions from this video to approach Namco with in regards to system mechanics, so be sure to leave a comment on his channel on what direction you want SCVI’s battle system to go in!

Time to hit the slides again as Smash’N’Splash 4 returns to the Kalahari Resort from June 1st-3rd

Blow up the floaties and break out the swim trunks, as Smash’N’Splash 4 is coming this summer. Returning to the Kalahari Resort in Wisconsin from June 1st-3rd, this tournament has become a regular feature during the Summer of Smash, providing plenty of fun for players who don’t make it out of the kiddie pool.

Alongside Super Smash Bros. Melee and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Smash’N’Splash 4 will feature tournaments for the original Super Smash Bros., Project M, ARMS, Splatoon 2 and more — complete with their own streams and stages. Both Melee and Smash 4 come with additional pot bonuses: $5,000 for singles and $1,000 for doubles.

Registration is now open over on smash.gg, complete with details for booking a room at the Kalahari Resort. To stop any issues with events running over, players are limited to entering four events (two singles and two doubles events), with those who are playing Splatoon 2 only able to enter one other tournament.

Video guide explains how to effectively control Guilty Gear’s Zato=1

A new year is a great time to pick up a new character and explore uncharted territory. Zato=1 (or Eddie in some past versions), has always been a stand-out character in the wacky cast. The puppet fighter has a few unique mechanics that mark his gameplay flow apart from others. While on surface he seems quite complicated, there are actually several mechanics that can help make some sense of Zato=1 and his shadow to enable effective rushdown.

The latest video from Drunkard Shade/novriltataki covers the interplay between Zato=1 and his shadow rather than going into combos. It’s a thorough breakdown of the ways to bring out the shadow and make it attack in tandem. There are several techniques that involve holding down buttons and releasing them (actually called “Negative Edging”). The video shows some methods, like developing muscle memory to keep fingers down on certain shadow attacks and knowing which Zato=1 moves have gatlings (normal attacks that cancel into other normals).

Check it out below, and if your eye has ever been on Guilty Gear‘s puppet character, he may be easier to pick up than he seems.
