VODs of Mikado Arcade’s 9th Marvel Super Heroes tournament are now available

Four months ago, we covered Amazing Gamer‘s Marvel Super Heroes tournament at the world famous FGC hot-spot, Mikado Arcade. MSH ran its event side by side with Mikado’s popular Super Street Fighter Carnival 2017 tournament then, and it’s to its credit that it stood out on its own amid the chaos of one of Mikado’s biggest draws.

Not a lot has changed between that event and now: Amazing Gamers can still put on a stand out tournament for the classic Marvel fighter regardless of what’s happening around it. (In this case, it’s Mikado’s currently on-going Street Fighter Carnival X series). Marvel vs Capcom: Infinite came and went in between these events, and Mikado’s MSH tournament still remains.

For those unfamiliar with MSH, a large part of the mental game (and mechanics) are built around its Infinity Gem system. This system allows players to enjoy new mechanics and buffs, which you can read further about at the SRK Wiki.

Koushun chronicles the intricacies of input priority in Sailor Moon S

The deeper you go into the Sailor Moon S tech, you’ll discover a crazy system with a lot of fine intricacies to be aware of, including a potential reason for what could have been deemed dropped inputs.

In Sailor Moon S, forward and crouching inputs take precedence over attack inputs, meaning that a forward, back, or crouching input that is not held down while hitting a button input can actually eat your attack inputs. But if you look further, we see some interesting options selects, as throws take precedence over specials. You can thus use specials as a buffer for throws, and if you are in range, you will get the throw as opposed to the special.

In these videos compiled by Sailor Moon S player Koushun, you can see how this input priority system comes together. As well as the aforementioned quirks, Koushun also goes over ways to work around the lack of an input buffer at the start of rounds.
