Everyone has a fighting chance
CES MMA will travel to New York for the first time on May 4 in Westbury – which is about 18 miles east of Manhattan — for a card that will include John Gotti III’s second professional bout.
After covering several pre-release breakdowns for Broly, it’s time to shine the spotlight on the other DLC character just-arrived to Dragon Ball FighterZ: the father of Goku and Raditz, Bardock. As before with Broly, the likes of Maximilian, PND|Ketchup and Mustard, Hellpockets, Rhymestyle, and AfroSenju XL were able to travel to the Bandai Namco Entertainment America and Europe offices to capture some pre-release footage of this character, ahead of his official release today.
The most notable thing about Bardock at first glance is that aside from a regular, single-shot Ki Blast, the low-class Saiyan is purely focused on rushdown — with a variety of specials that move him forward, allowing him to quickly close in on foes and enter his ideal attack range.
Maximilian notes that he feels like an amalgamation of several characters currently on the roster, such as Super Saiyan Goku, Goku Black, Yamcha, Piccolo and Adult Gohan, as unlike Broly, “everything flows and just works.”
Rebellion Spear, like all of Bardock’s specials, can be done on both the ground and the air, with the Heavy/EX version having either a launching or knockdown follow-up with an additional button press depending on the version used — but it will not come out on block. Though Bardock does seem to get more aerial actions than most characters. The Raging Meteor provides Bardock with meterless hard knockdowns, and can also be performed whether you’re grounded or airborne. Tyrant Lancer is a Chargeable strike that provides a fullscreen wallbounce. The Light version also serves as his Assist.
Moving on to his three supers, Riot Javelin is standard projectile fare, but Saiyan Spirit uniquely stands out as “the Bionic Lancer of Dragon Ball FighterZ,” as it’s currently the only Level 1 with startup invincibility, giving Bardock an extremely cheap and dangerous reversal option that demands respect whenever his team has any Ki whatsoever. Revenge Assault is a standard cinematic Level 3, and like everything else, can be used grounded or airborne. For additional footage and impressions, see the videos below!
Bardock and Broly are available in Dragon Ball FighterZ tomorrow, and can be purchased, along with 6 additional DLC characters, as part of the FighterZ Pass (and are included in the FighterZ and Ultimate Editions) or can be bought individually.

While this game has kicked around on mobile platforms in some form since 2016, the game’s most recent character reveals features the stylized likenesses of multiple FGC players, including Ryan Hart, Justin Wong, Smug, Marn, and Gllty. But that’s just the surface — the gameplay itself is designed by long time fighting-game player Steven Wu, and the influence our genre has had is evident in the game’s mechanics.

WWE Announces NOLA Performance By Mystery Superstar, Lars Sullivan Trains (Video), SmackDown Top 10
With the game having been in circulation for a bit over two months now, it’s time for Dragon Ball FighterZ to receive its first round of post-launch DLC content. This comes in the form two new playable characters, Bardock and Broly, who each bring their own Z-Stamps, Lobby Avatars, a set of six colors, and a pair of new Dramatic Finishes.
Both of these FighterZ can be purchased individually for $4.99 each, or obtained as part of the FighterZ Pass — which gets you all eight upcoming DLC warriors for a discounted price of $34.99 — in addition to being included in the FighterZ and Digital Ultimate Editions.
The Commentator Voice Pack, which was originally scheduled to be released at launch alongside the Ultimate Edition, before experiencing a delay, will allow players to select Chi-Chi, Android 18, and Videl as Battle Commentators during replays, and will set you back $7.55. The Z-Stamps: Girls Pack is also available, containing three new Z-Stamps for Bulma, Android 18, and Android 21 (in her scientist form), for $2.95. Finally, there is a set of five PSN profile avatars based off of the official character artwork for SSGSS Goku and Vegeta, Trunks, Piccolo, and Majin Buu, available for $4.99. Bandai Namco has released a look at the development for Geralt of Rivia from The Witcher franchise within SoulCalibur VI. Developers from CD Projekt Red have been working closely with the SoulCalibur VI team ensuring that Geralt is as authentic as possible, while still fitting perfectly within the fighting game universe.
Also, according to Borys Pugacz-Muraszkiewicz, the Director of English Adaptations from CD Projekt Red, Geralt’s inclusion in SoulCalibur VI can be viewed as more than just a guest character cameo. “…Geralt’s romp into the world of SoulCalibur VI could be considered an extension of the interdimensional travel he did in The Witcher 3,” said Pugacz-Muraszkiewicz.
